Honestly, I think it’s total BS that any vehicle manufacturer is producing a MASS produced vehicle with “Summer Only” tires and can be sold in Geographic Regions that experience extreme seasonal weather conditions and temps below 50*.

If “Summer Only” tires can’t handle temps below 50*, then the vehicle manufacturer shouldn’t be installing said tires on vehicles sold in such regions - rather these same vehicles should be equipped with an All Season equivalent performance tire when built... sure easier said than done, considering a vehicle can be shipped/sold anywhere - but what about giving the Buyer the option to opt out of a Summer Only and into an equivalent All Season at time of purchase?

Who and what Buyer is going to remove wheels from their daily driver if it gets cold outside and store them in a climate controlled room until the cold weather passes? LMAO... sure.
Summer Only tires sold standard on cars is irrational. On the other hand, if you crash your car driving on tires that aren't designed for the weather conditions, you can buy a new car. It's a win/win.

This is why I ditched the cheap P-Zero Nero tires on my base model. For a 235/50/18 tire to ride this rough and noisy is just a joke. Now, I see pics of cracking after just sitting? Never again will I buy a Pirelli tire. Cheap Chinese made Cooper Zeon's are better than this.

For those storing your cars in the winter, I personally would always recommend storing it on 4 Heavy Duty Jack Stands, and let some air out of the tires to reduce the stress on the rubber when it's cold.

So it sounds like Ford and Pirelli are each going to cover part of the replacement set. I'm on the hook for a quarter of the cost but its better than nothing, which I started to expect.

You'll pay for quarter of tires AND labor or just tires?

I ask because I had two tires replaced under warranty (realize not your situation) on a 2002 Ranger. The paperwork said the labor would have been... sit down for it..... $350! Just for removing, mounting and balancing two tires.

My understanding is that a lot of the labor will be covered as well. The dealer is a small one and hasn't screwed me over before on mounting/balancing. The tires to be replaced aren't on the car right now so it shouldn't be that difficult, be we'll see.
