I disabled the EQ using Forscan and added a subwoofer. I have my thoughts about the current sound quality. What do the audio experts think about this spectrum? Does it tell us anything? I have the eq set to sound good (to me...depending on what is played) with the bass and mids around center and the treble cut from center.

Is this measured response in the car? The curve looks decent. Could use a little more bass around 31hz up to the yellow bar and cut the hump down between 250hz and 500hz. But without a full EQ that might be hard to do.
What program or app is that?

Yeah its measured from the drivers seat. I'm using the JL Audio pink noise file. Its just an IOS app called Audio Spectrum Analyzer dB RTA.

The sound quality is still lacking. I don't have the sub dialed in yet but that isn't the biggest issue. Either I live with it or find some new door speakers woofer/mid/tweeter or coax/tweeter. Its a big step and a slippery slope as they say. I have no idea.

Oh ok. So what you're seeing might not actually be a valid measurement without a calibrated mic.

The rabbit hole is deep if you choose to go down it.

yeah gamble on speakers with current stock amp and have no way to dial things in or go full hog with another amp / dsp / t harness in which case I might as well buy really nice speakers

Have you disconnected the center speaker? That made a huge difference in my wife's 9 speaker system. And that's a premium.

I have gone dsp amps speakers and sub in my base car, and am adding mids now as I can't get the quality of sound that my wife's 9 speaker car sounds with just removal of the eq and disconnect the center and speaker upgrade. But as mentioned it the speakers aren't exactly what your looking for then a aftermarket dsp is the only option.

I have a piece of sound deadening over it. Its wedged between the plastic grill and the speaker. I was afraid to break the clips getting the grill off. I broke and lost a few clips on the large dash plastic piece getting to it and now I'm waiting for replacements before I try it again. One was found when I removed the glove box when I was pulling the power cable through the fire wall :)

I might look at some new but unopened JL Audio C5-650x speakers if the guy will be reasonable on price.
