Phone Call from Ford AU

Geez they talk some bollocks dont they....apart from a few press cars already on a boat, no cars have left Baltimore yet....the boat takes a tad over a month for the trip....that puts any cars that leave today not getting here until early Dec. at least.
Maybe they will air freight them...hang the expense....

I'm at 60 days today since my Mustang build was completed and it hasn't left the US yet.

You might want to put your dealer mentioned key handing ceremony date on your calendar in pencil

I'm hoping they sort out the delivery process with the first couple of shipments so they have it down pat by the time mine is ready. ;)

I'm not too fussed about delivery dates but I can understand the frustration of those who've been waiting for a lot longer than I have.

I have bought my first aftermarket piece though - the Ford Racing rear boot applique with no logo. Got it from CJ Pony Parts. Next up is the strut tower brace from Levittown Ford.

I made an enquiry on Facebook and Ford today gave me my VIN and a build date of November 2015. They also mentioned 60 days from build I should have the keys.

So, I'm excited for that and can now track my Mustang's build!

I have also had a good chat with my dealer this afternoon and he says there is a lot inconsistency with what Ford have been telling dealers by way of Confidential Dealer Bulletins and what Ford have been telling customers. For instance, the dealer was under the impression that the VIN would be confirmed when the car was ready for the boat yet Ford give the VIN to the customer via a Facebook message.

I can sort of see it from his perspective that he prefers not to give too much information unless he's convinced it's accurate. I'm pretty sure he has a large number of orders too, so he only wants to disseminate once he's sure.

The other thing he told me is that the phone calls are to let people know that deliveries will be sliding; he's trying to find out the extent of who/what will be affected. I haven't had a phone call yet but if it's "No Caller Id" I tend not to answer; not sure if I can resist that now!! Haha!

I am going to guess that you may be buying yours from the same place as I am, from Mr H, as I have the same info. He wont give out VIN numbers until the car is in the lot and they have actually eyeballed that it is correct, I get where he is coming from and don't have a problem with that, but I would love to poke around the sites mentioned on these forums and check out window stickers and track what vessel it will be on and so on. What info did you need to get the VIN via Ford on facebook? I got an email today from him telling me that mine is built and in Baltimore waiting to be shipped, but no phone calls from anyone so far.

I have ordered a Magnetic GT manual fastback, back in November. At the time I had no idea how long the wait was so if it gets here before the end of this year I will be really happy, if not then that is life, no point getting all hot under the collar about it.

If you ordered your car in November last year and your car has been built and waiting at Baltimore for shipping then your car has either jumped the queue big time or you are extremely lucky. You will have to get your VIN number and then we can point you in the right direction. You will need to PM Ford Au if your dealer won't give it to you.

I am working on getting the VIN now, from what I had read I was also a bit surprised that it was already built. It seems order date and build dates don't quite add up, guess there is some logic in the madness, maybe they ran out of paint for some colours .

Nice one John....you are catching on.... Hybrid made a comment a while back that Ford ran a lottery to determine their delivery order....I purposely do not enter lotteries as I could not win a kick in a street fight.

Yep it's a lottery and I am pretty much the anti rabbits foot . I am back through the the stages and past rage now at acceptance.

Ford au are apparently going to contact me tomorrow which I am guessing means April delivery.

Who wants to bet which I get first.. I ordered a focus Rs and I am first or second at the dealer....

My concern with my order is I seem to have been shafted by the dealer. Feb order and jan delivery. Most are now seeing two month delay?? That puts me at March/April which just hurts me... I'll miss the tassie car trip damnit
