Do you think that ford will phase out the V6 for the ecoboost? it seems to be more popular then the v6.
Also, with the ecoboost and full bolt ons you can reach as much power as a V8. Do you think they will introduce the 5.2 liter as the standard in GT and use something else for the other models(boss, 350,)?

Judging by the new Ford GT being an Ecoboost V6 I think the 5.0 could be phased out.

True. That's gonna be a twin turbo v6 with over 600 hp. I'd still like to see them hav NA cars as they don't have as many problems as forced induction when they reach higher mileage.

With fuel economy requirements becoming more strict over the years (CAFE), it's likely that something significant like that will happen eventually.

I could see the v8 becoming a more limited production run and a turbo 6 becoming the GT level. I doubt they'd ever completely phase it out, though.

They'd could do something like BMW and make it a I6 or V6 with smaller twin turbos. That would still push out more then enough power.
I'd hate to see the 5.0 and 5.2 liter V8 go, but it could open up room for something better? I use the term better very sparingly.

Maybe if we're lucky they will go to smaller 8s with FI. V6s and 4s just don't sound good. It sucks that the fascists have to control every aspect of people's lives.

Sorry put whatever company does delete there V8 will lose more than half of there customers. Then will be deleted completely. I just find it hard that our America V8 would be ended. This is part of Americans history! You don't here about European companies deleting their top motors.I would be embarrassed!!!Sorry but in my life if someone says do you have a muscle car or a sports car that means you have a V-8!!! There's two big of a market for the V8 motors and aftermarket parts.

That is true. But a better engine can always be made.
Look at the i8. It's a 3 cylinder turbo with electric engine and they can make 350 hp and 427 ftlb of torque. It's faster then the M4. IMO that's where the new performance and sports cars are heading.

Take a listen to the Jaguar F-type V6-S, Before I heard that I'd have been inclined to agree that you cant make a v6 sound good, but that car... changed that for me.

We spoke to Ford Global Powertrain Technology Communications Manager, Paul Seredynski, who told us that there's "No basis of truth in that report".

We also asked him a few more questions about Ford's engine plans and choices:

CS: Is there a future for Ford's V8s in today's Eco-minded world, and if so, what does it look like?

PS: The V-8 still plays an important role in our product lineup, having just launched the new 5.0-liter V-8 in the 2015 Mustang, and we’ve also announced another upcoming new V-8 – the flat-plane 5.2-liter – in the GT350 and GT350R.

CS: Will we see a production EcoBoost V8?

PS: We do not discuss future product

CS: Why did you go with an EcoBoost V6 on the new GT and the Raptor?

PS: The compact nature (along with its exceptional power density) of the EcoBoost V-6 in the all new Ford GT was a key factor that allowed the exceptionally narrow rear canopy, a key design and aerodynamic element of the car. The EcoBoost engine in the all-new Raptor will produce more power and torque than the 6.2-liter V-8 it replaces with improved efficiency.
