It's 2016, unless you're going with a really insane build, i.e huge cams, individual TBs, lots of boost (30+), etc., you're not going to ruin the reliability and street manners of today's performance vehicles.

You will lose your low end torque with the voodoo manifold
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The dyno graphs show the stage 3 has low end hp/torque losses for just a little extra high end hp. Not worth it for most people in my opinion.

Here's the thing:
Power pack 1 - you get most of the power with out changing the stock appearance of your car.
Power Pack 2 - you have to change the throttle body & CAI. I've never been a fan of the open "hot air" boxes that are open to the engine bay. Then is water going to be a problem like on the 13-14 S197's when you had an open top CAI and lots of rain coming in through the hood vents?

So I'm leaning towards just getting the Power Pack 1.

There is no issue with rain or car washes.

What's the verdict on CAI's these days?

5-6 years back, it was looking like the stock box was adequate for non-boosted cars and the minimal power gains really didn't justify the $300 for the tube and filter.

I'm pretty sure that hasn't changed. If that's part of the cost of power pack 2, I'd see if that can just be skipped.

The same... but most of the people who sell them for a living will try to make you believe otherwise. I don't think they are needed for N/A car. The only intake that I have seen that people seem to swear by is the PMAS but it's certainly not the prettiest of them either.

By itself, a CAI that comes without an accompanying tune isn't worth much. If it really does grab air that's enough cooler than what the stock box gets, it'll need the tune to go with it (else there is some risk of running too lean under some conditions).

I dyno'd my car and gained 7 wheel HP peak. It just depends on how much you value the extra ponies. To determine if it's worth the300 buck or not. The tune is the big initial mod for most cars.

IIRC, 7hp is more than previous versions of the Coyote would typically get...for example, on the older Coyotes, a 91 octane tune could find ~20 extra horses, a tune +CAI for almost 2x the price, would typically find ~23hp.

Sounds like a CAI is possibly more worthwhile these days, especially if you plan for more mods down the road.

Thanks for the responses. Im excited to start modding. It's good to know you can add some extra power to this engine without destroying it's reliability.
