I recently watched 2015 mustang review on you tube, and the interviewer said that the Performance Package (besides the 3.73 final drive ratio) had different internal gearing ratios then a base GT.

I have tried internet searches but have found no documentation to support his statement that the PP manual trans has different gearing then a standard manual GT, I did see that the ECO Boost and 6 Cyl do have different ratios then a GT.

Has anyone read anything different ???

It does. The performance package has 3.73 rear gear with a torrent differential. the non-PP cars have a choice between 3.15 or optional 3.31 rear gears.

The transmission ratios are identical. Only difference is the rear differential gear ratio.

That is incorrect. He was asking about transmission gear ratios.

I can offer this.......As of today there are no serviceable parts available from Ford, 6sp is only offered as a replacement. There is only one part # listed for all v8 cars, so I would say there are all the same ratio.

I was surprised that the trans gear ratios are different between the ecoboost and the GT. I can only assume that ford fine tuned the hp to the gear ratios between the two different cars, if so well done Ford.

The gearing is different internally in the MT-82s depending on which model you get, e.g. GT, EcoBoost, V6, but the 6R80 has the same internal gearing across all models.

Guy's, thanks for all the reply's. I didn't think the ratios were different in the PP and he recanted his statement and he added an annotation at about 6 minutes into the video that the transmission ratios are the same in all GT's...

Its pretty obvious they are the same when viewing the manual... final drive is where the difference lies.
