Performance package question?

Thinking about getting the performance package and I'm wondering since the PP is a lot of bang for the buck will it help resale value vs a non-PP mustang?

Here's my take:

Certain options are worth straight money.
Certain options are a waste.
Certain options aren't worth anything but help you sell the car.

The caveat to this is that they have to make sense. If you get NAV in a stripper GT+PP Prem, it's probably a waste. NAV in a fully loaded GT is a value add.

Generally, I'd say PP will net you a few more dollars on the back end. Other packages, like the 50Y, may not amount to worth down the road, but they will help you turn the car over faster and with less hassle (thus maybe getting you more money within a tight timeframe) if you decide to sell private party down the road.

That's been my experience over the years anyway.

I don't think it will affect "trade in value" as much but if you sell privately you will probably have more enthusiast buyers that will be looking for PP only cars and willing to pay a little extra.

No way to know for sure, sales guys aren't nearly as concerned with performance options as we are. They would probably rather have a sunroof

Thanks ordering this Saturday so still got time to decide, but I am leaning towards getting the pp

Disagree with this last bit. I think that when you're trying to sell this car ten years from now selling a car without nav then will be like selling a car without A/C today. Nobody's going to want it.

I am never going to want nav...I know where I am going, if I don't I can google it in 30 seconds and then take off. Addresses are not hard to figure out.

In 10 years, I can't imagine many people buying a Mustang for luxury or cruising, they will be getting them to race and mod. If they are getting them to drive, and they're looking at a 10 year old car they will be looking for cheap as possible.

Nav is a gimmick. I'm not saying it will go away because I'm sure it will become standard as everything becomes more integrated...but it is pretty useless.

I suppose it all depends. I use nav (on my phone, because I stupidly didn't option my current car with it) literally every single time I drive, whether it's driving to a new part of town I'm unfamiliar with, or seeing which routes have the heaviest traffic and which alternate routes will be quicker -- the Mustang comes with 5 free years of real time traffic, and it's a wonderful thing to be able to know that the normal route you take to go somewhere is delayed by 2 or 3 hours because of an accident or construction, and you can take an alternate route that'll get you there faster.

Real time traffic will be nice when everything is standard. I just don't see most of these options being a deal breaker for someone in the future. In my mind, a person buying a 10 year old mustang wants to mod and bang gears more than anything.

I'm giving the car to my kid in 7 years when he's ready to drive. He'll either mod and race it or drive it till the wheels fall off and scrap it.
I didn't get the NAV because Google (has real time traffic also).
I DID get the PP because I want it to be fun to drive.
resale shesmell just get what you want.

And honestly the ford navigation SUCKS. It's 5years at least behind garmin.

Go back to 05/07/08 those cars are selling just fine without navigation

Kenwood has a double din receiver with garmin navigation for $300 right now.

Honestly you're wrong.

I'll take a OEM complete myfordtouch system over any junk aftermarket. Plus as soon as you undo those panels they never fit right again. Enjoy creating rattles.

I've pulled all kinds of panels off every car I've ever owned, none of them rattle.
69 camaro. No rattles

I've used in car gps since 96, every day that I work, at least 6 days a week, but usually 7. All of them. Tomtom,alpine,generic store brands, and all oem..

Junk aftermarket??? Really? Do you believe ford produces that radio? Alpine has made ford radios for years.

Are you the guy that does nothing to their car? Completely factory stock? My 15 will be in pieces the day I pick it up. Already have a pile of aftermarket junk laying here to get on it.
