Performance pack spoiler question

I just bought a pp1 spoiler. I’m thinking about cutting the alignment pins off of it so I don’t need to drill more holes in my trunk than I need to. Do they serve any real purpose? I would still bolt it down in 4 places along with the 3m tape.

I would imagine they're more for locating during installation than anything else. Once that tape contacts, it's game over unless you want to strip it and start again.
