Park a mile away, give that cart some room to get some speed!

I've never parked forever away and have never had a problem. Sometimes its pretty hard to fit the H1 in a close spot but damnit I try!

Funny thing some people really need some spanking, sometimes u go park far away and when there is so many other spots, a fellow comes and parks next to you, seriously next to you. And when they open the door they freaking kick it open, well more than 60% of the population is over weight its not easy to get in and out of that car. At the end u end up with a door ding or scratch  :paddle: i like that one other member said, first shoot then ask the questions

I get what ur saying man, and usually I dont make post like I did. But taking the high road sometimes doesnt get ur point across!!!
Well, you know what really sucks about the whole situation?

Asshole comment or not, he was right. The car isn't totaled, it's paint damage.

I guess I just have a different perspective. I have seen so much real pain in my life that I can't get my panties twisted tight enough about a *thing* to throw an internet hissy fit because it got scratched.

If I was going to freak out about someone being careless, I would stress about the careless driver who ran a red light and killed my 19 year old brother.

If I was going to freak out about someone being lazy, I would stress about the drug dealer who decided to "teach a lesson" to my best friend's husband - by cutting her throat and leaving her to die (over a $100 cocaine debt).

If I was going to freak out about the unfairness of life, I would stress about the young couple that my wife and I bowl with - whose 2 children have a rare genetic disorder which is fatal before age 5 in all cases.

When I think about stuff like that, and then go out and look at the rock chip that I picked up in my hood last week - well, I find myself thinking "it's just a car".

Your mileage, of course, may vary.

From my perspective and based on your mustang options, i'd say you really just can't comprehend what it feels like to have some shithead cause damage to your car that you cant repair without a second thought.

That few hundred dollars it may cost to fix something like that can mean a lot more to someone who's budget is not so roomy. Thats why it hurts much more when you have something nice to be proud of and it gets disrespected like that

It's just a car... If your that upset call your insurance company, file a claim and have it repaired. I'd rather be careless than be so superficial as to cry about a scratch on a car that is still mechanically flawless.
:dnftt:

I'm glad you don't care about dings, scratches or taking care of things you own. I can only imagine your attitude toward everything else; Or, what your clothes, kids or home looks like.

Just because some of us want to take care of a 30k/40k+ product (and likely the 2nd most expensive things we own outside of a home) we bought doesn't mean you have to do so as well. You also don't need to comment, but you couldn't help but "cry" about his post.

Unfortunately, I didn't take my own advice and fed the troll.

We all find different ways to deal.

For myself, I have found a mantra which helps to keep me calm and sane.

When someone cuts me off in traffic, or I get a rock chip in my car, or I throw a single bad shot and miss a perfect 300 bowling game, or whatever - I say to myself:

"if that was the worst thing that happened to you today - haven't you had a pretty good day?"

Perspective can be a good thing.

Of course, there are many examples of real pain not just around us, but in the world as a whole. And I really sympathize with you on this.

Yes, it is just a car, and yes, it can be fixed with a few hundred bucks. It's not even remotely comparable to something as horrific as losing a loved one. At all.

But I think people are reading too much into OP's reaction, and the "It's just a car" guy. The OP is upset about someone scratching his car and running away (or not even realizing), and he's sharing his experience with like-minded people who happen to love the same car he loves.

I would be too. Not even nearly as much as if I lost a loved one, but upset nonetheless. And yes, the person who did this can be labeled careless. Again, not as much as someone who drinks and drives into a busy intersection, but a careless person nonetheless. And the guy who comes to a forum full of people who love this car with great passion and says "It's just a car" is being a troll (for lack of a better term). But again, he's not as much as ... I can't find a life analogy for a troll. :p But you get my point. Just different shades of the same color.

If we never get upset about anything in life purely because "someone's had it worse", or never get happy about anything in life purely because "someone's having it worse", life gets very boring very fast. The little emotional outbursts over little, meaningless things is what makes us all humans. :)

The OP's upset. He has the right to be. But it's just a car, and I'm sure he can get it fixed just fine. Good luck, OP!

Too bad that happened to your car friend, people are so careless and unapologetic in today's me first society. Personally I park the furthest away from a store I plan on going in I've seen people driving around the local grocery market 5 times in order to find a place that's 3 feet closer to the door I can never understand that herd mentality.

Look, I get it and don't disagree. But, those are completely false equals and don't in anyway mean the OP should not care about the scratches on his car. You're examples are sad/horrible/bad and I'm sorry those have happened. However, there's a lot of really, really bad shit in this world and it doesn't negate the "lesser bad shit" just because of it.

Using your own examples, did your best friend live? Maybe she shouldn't be upset it happened then, because she lived and your brother didn't. It's harsh, but using your logic it works. I don't agree with it (obviously, otherwise I wouldn't be posting this), but the reality is there are almost always worse things that have happened in this crazy, messed up world to someone else.

Using your or other's pain is a common tactic to win an argument like this (and I've seen it far more than once), but they aren't fair comparisons. I am truly sorry you and your friends had those horrible experiences, but they don't trump the OPs separate experience. They are not equal and are completely different in all ways. While offering you a different perspective on life, it doesn't mean the OP can't also be upset.

Feel free to call me an asshole for saying it, but it's true.

Wow, maybe we should blame the driver then for parking where he did? Perhaps we should find the driver who hit his car and have in intervention and say "please don't do that again" :headbonk:

What are the best ways to remove or hide the scratches .
Unfortunately, paint correction with wetsanding, a DA and m105/m205 from meguiars will not remove those scratches as it seems those went through the clear coat. If you dont want to repaint, get a Dr colorchip kit. I would repaint :( good luck.

I agree - you have to keep perspective. The perspective here lies within damage to a car that he just got. Anyone would be annoyed with that, across all lines of cars and value. If I buy a candy bar and it gets knocked out of my hands by someone being careless I would be annoyed. I might even post it on facebook, but it would go without saying that its only within the context of losing a candy bar and not life as a whole. Besides, it's not like the OP is saying this is the worst event in his entire life. He's keeping it within the framework of a new car that most of can relate to.
