they just cut away some of the tin to give it more adjustability they don't actually touch the mount points/hard part of the tower.

the plates give caster/camber adjustability the bolts just give camber adjustability and caster is left with whatever the cars base setup can do you also get more travel so more available degrees on a plate than a simple bolt. if you're doing it old school though you don't even need the bolts just need a dremmel to turn the factory bolt hole into a slot so the factory bolt can slide in/out :)

I’d like to see a pic of a cut up strut tower, sounds interesting.
I don’t understand why the Steeda or BMR top mounts won’t fit the Pedders? If all three available top mounts fit stock struts, and Pedders fit stick top mounts, surely they can be made to fit? Or am I missing something?
Those bushes I made to fit the Pedders with Steeda rear mounts are stainless steel so shouldn’t rust?

The Pedders coil overs come with their own top mounts - they don't re-use the stock mounts.

Only person I've seen do it on a mustang is Reuben, there's pictures in Mustangs Unleashed, basically two slots cut out of the top hat/tin hat on the strut tower to allow acess to the allen key slots.
As Dave says. pedders has its own front strut mounts, which are replaced with the plates. Steeda didn't fit regardless of the combination of spacers etc that was tried...

What is Mustangs unleashed?

I have made strut towers in the past from billet, maybe the Mustang is s candidate?? I think I might look at a way of using parts of the camber adjust top hats and make them sit on top of the tower for easy access?

the bmr plates fit ontop and are adjustable in place however I'm guessing the same issue as the steeda top mounts for the rear dampers you made the bushes for we'd need bushes for the bmr plates again as I guess the shafts are different diameter on the pedders to the bearing on the bmr plates

Hi,
They're not strictly mounted on top of the tower. There is a plate under the tower which takes the weight and the top plate is just like a big washer for want of a better term.

If you look at the GT4 Mustangs they have strictly top mounted top mounts. I think the biggest obstacle in the towers on these cars is the small hole in the centre of the tower. Even with a top mount plate the hole would still need to be opened up.. how many people really want to cut their car??

Looking at the pictures Manders has posted I wonder if it would be possible to leave the outer two allen bolts loose during alignment, with the inner two allen bolts accessible through the hole for adjustment. Once the alignment is complete the the top mount could be removed and the outer two bolts could be tightened. I actually wonder if the top mount needs to be removed, perhaps the strut could just be dropped a couple of inches giving access to the four allen bolts?
