I know PBD does good tunes and has a mostly good reputation. But something feels "off" with communication.

My specifics will be slightly vague intentionally. Im not trying to call anybody out when I can't be sure it's deserved yet

This is my first time using PBD for this specific Mustang. Thus far feedback from them has been far below even moderate expectations, and easily ranks at the bottom when compared to past tuners for other cars I've had.

I'm at the point, if things don't improve by Thursday I'll ask for a refund rather than continueing down this path with them.

I know people here love PBD and rave about their tunes and service. Heck it's a big reason I looked at them. But for me...so far... it's been an unimpressive slog.

has anybody else had this? I could also be totally over reacting. All I know is right now...I'm feeling some regret.

No not at all.

I won't get into why I'll NEVER use/recommend them, but they are no longer the same after Rob left.

Big name tuners are the sole reason I went down a journey over a year ago and learned to tune the coyote myself. Good luck

Wengerd...Wengerd...Wengerd...or if you want who made PBD great, get with Rob Shoemaker.

I got my 93 tune from Shoemaker through lethal performance. I went with him based on recommendations on here that said he was the reason PBD was so highly regarded. I've read some opinions to the contrary now that Shoemaker has left.

Anyway, car runs great and pulls hard for a basically stock car. Just won't pass emissions anymore without flashing back to stock every time I'm due for an inspection...very annoying, but that's another story.

You have to too look up Rob Shoemaker he is on IG, my car was tuned by him after I put the LTH on and boy does it run, it makes the bamma tune seem like a stock tune. The_tunemaker

I'll look more into them if my situation doesnt work out for sure. I've seen and heard Robs name a bunch. From what I recall he has done some really remarkable things. Till spring this mustang doesn't require much tune magic. Very non-complex till then. I'd have that feeling I'm asking Stephen Hawking to make a model volcano for 3rd grade science class 😂

I have seen some screenshots of them communicating with some of my friends.. seems like they’ll reply nonsense once every 2 days to buy themselves more time. For example, because I don’t remember the exact communications.
Buddies would send a log, then they’d reply with, can you give me a rundown of mods to make sure I understand your setup. Let’s say you give them the Mods and you say 1000cc inj. They then reply 2 days later with, well there are many 1000cc injectors, which one? So basically they bombard you with questions back that they should already know.

Yep that's how a few emails have felt. I reply with an answer, sometimes wondering why they asked and they never elaborate on it.

Even when I ask a direct question the reply sort of side steps it, and is a few words long. I.e. me "Hey when I loaded the tune my car color turned purple" the reply would be like " how many exhaust tips do you have?"

I've got about 6 sentences in total over 2 weeks.

if this is the customer service your getting, I’d be asking for a refund. If they can’t take the time to respond back to your emails, are they taking the time to tune your car?

Nope... They are not. Majority of tunes from big name companies are minor mods like intake and exhaust. They're all cookie cutter tunes. Not actual custom tunes. Takes dozens of logs to do that. Not 3 revisions. It usually works out good for most. But like me and others, there are problems with a cookie cutter tune.

Yep that's basically where my head is at. I did infact ask for a refund today after I received another email from them wanting to move onto the next tune. ....move onto the next tune? I havent gotten any feed back on the issues with the first one...or any feed back on the data logs they asked for and I sent...I'm not moving on to the next one lol. hells no.

I figured the initial tune file would be a cookie cutter baseline. And in all honesty that would have been fine most likely. Had it not created an issue. My expectations are realistic. I don't expect much from a pump gas tune on a stock car, even for the E85 tune.

The difference between me sticking with them or jumping ship was probably just a few extra sentences in an email.

Sir, with all due respect, get off your “custom tune” having horse.
