I will be installing a Paxton beefcake special this weekend on the car. I was wondering if I can cut the tubing of the NA JLT intake and fab it up to work with the Paxton kit. Has anyone done this? Thanks in advanced for the help or ideas.

The JLT kit for the paxton is $199 new.

If I were you, I'd sell your current JLT (used sale price varies from $225-$250), and do it that way.

How much did you have to cut/modify on the heat shield? Does it hit the hood when you let off of a wot pull? Did that paxton maf block piece come with your blower?

Piece comes with the kit. All I had to trim on the heat shield was enough for intercooler pipe to clear. Still has the original mount points as if it were still N/A. I went this route because I would rather spend twenty minutes modifying the one I had then dealing with people on Craigslist to save 20 bucks.

Forgot to mention the seal that runs along top of heat shield, don't cut it. You can push it back on the shield were you made your cut. Makes it look clean and looks as if you bought it that way.

I agree with you 100%. I'm planning on probably going paxton, and modifying my JLT like this. Is the coupler from the cut JLT tube to the Paxton tube one that came with the kit, or something you added? Thanks for your help! Any contact with the hood? I've seen that with some of the JLT/paxton setups.

I actually like the way the modified JLT looks rather than the Paxton JLT. My air filter runs into the frame, and doesn't look right. The way the modified sits, it looks in place.

It is the coupler that came with the kit, it's hard to get on but will make it in there. As far as rubbing there is minimal rubbing on the sound deadening material but not the hood. Doesn't even contact it enough to fold a fin on the filter. I assume this only rubs when you get on it. Never heard any noise. My filter doesn't touch the frame . As far as the charger itself I cut a little 4x4 square out of the hood liner right where the charger crowns and never had an issue. I have read some guys got some contact and fixed it by spacing their hood latch with washers.
