So I've seen a couple threads on this, but everyone I've seen was concluded with take it to the dealer it's under warranty... but I'm out of warranty now.

My rear passenger side outermost turn signal / brake light sometimes doesn't work. I'll know it by the interior turn signal clicking being off in pattern and it's always truly out when I check. But often I can turn the car off and on and there's a good chance it'll work perfectly fine.

Is there a fix for this, other than buying a whole new assembly that might have the same issue?

There is a Ford service bulletin SSM47429 on the fix for this. It is a software issue, the BCMB body control module needs to be updated. Unfortunately, they will usually only do this for free under warranty. I don't know what a dealer will charge for doing this out of warranty. You can Google the service bulletin for the specifics.

Thanks for the help! I'm going to reach out to my mechanic / family friend and see if he has a way to get a hold of that calibration for that TSB.
