I brought my car in for an oil change to the local Ford dealer in Amsterdam (the Netherlands). Besides charging me 655 euros for the privilege :curse:, the dealer managed to lose my nice metal OEM valve caps when they aired up the tires.

I want to order new ones instead of putting on some el cheapo plastic caps, but can't find them on FordParts.com or at Tasca. Does anyone know the right part number?

Shouldn't that be the dealers problem? If they won't replace them it's still probably something you'd have to get at the dealer. Every auto parts store around me has a few different options for metal caps though for pretty cheap.

100% agreed. The thing I could've clarified - will edit my post - is that the car is now in the Netherlands. Which means the dealer can only access the Euro parts catalogue, which doesn't have all the GT350 parts.

I am trying to find the part # so I can order through a dealer in the US/Tasca.

If you are in a pinch you can always buy the OEM TPMS sensor and valve stem combo. Those will come with the valve stem caps. Tirerack sells them for a reasonable price ($32).

Also did you verify the dealer put in the correct volume of oil? A car they are not familiar with plus shoddy attention to detail is a recipe for potential disaster.

@Seb, another Mustang6G forum member previously had noted "FordPartsGiant.com" as on-line source of products/supplies which I had bookmarked for reference. I checked their listing for valve caps, and they show a plastic type and a metal type. The metal type is shown as manufacturer part # DR3Z-1A163-A, sold w/ 1 cap per pack, at their cost of $6.16 for each pack (retail cost of $9.82 per pack, according to them).

There was no picture accompanying the listing, only a drawing of what looks like a rather typical round metal valve stem cap, with no indication on the drawing of any reference to a Shelby, a GT350, a Heritage Edition, etc., on the cap, even though their listing shows "Shelby Version" next to the entry "Fitting Vehicle Options". I'm not sure this is what you are seeking, but you might know once you check out their website on your computer.

Hope this helps!

As a quick fix, if the Ford caps are hard to get, drop by a BMW dealer. The one on the left below is genuine BMW (a bit grungy from being on the snow tire rims), on the right, genuine GT350.

They billed me for 10 qts, and I had them save the empty oil filter box and an empty can of 5W-50 to make sure it was Motorcraft. Short of watching them do it that seemed like the best insurance...

I would've much rather taken the car to a Mustang/Shelby specialist, but don't want the warranty hassle should anything go awry and I am missing a dealer stamp. :frown:

Is the GT350 eligible for warranty repairs over there since the car was not sold in Europe? Just curious.

I have to pay out of pocket first, then find a US dealer that's willing to push the warranty claim paperwork for me in the US...

Oh damn. Sounds sketchy. I've been considering a move to the UK, but I would probably have to cancel my Ford ESP if I did that since that would definitely not be valid.
