Bought the car about 2 weeks ago, on test drive didn't really notice that the parking brake felt kind of tight.

All is fine and good, however it takes about 1mm of movement to set off the "BRAKE" light on the dash, and I can actually push the brake down about 1/2" to where it feels like it's supposed to be seated normally and it will spring back up 1/2".

Would this have to do with the actual parking brake cable, or with the lever inside the center console? I'd like to fix this because it's a little annoying when I put the brake down, the light stays on, so I have to push it down for it to turn off.

I read about the adjustment already, just want to know if I should start with that or look under the boot inside the car.

Thanks!
