Glad to hear you got the guy that did it. Hit-and-run is one of the biggest scumbag moves.

I was parked in the very back corner of a restaurant, correctly between the lines and someone still managed to hit me and run

I park way far away, yeah, for safety, but the long walk up on that ass end from across the parking lot really gets my Levis in a bind. mmmm.
its all in the lap of the gods
On my S197 went all over Europe, done 6000 miles in 2 trips, had to park in many cities, in many carparks. Car was left there sometimes for days, cars moving all the time and parking next to me
In Stockholm had to park in a multi-storey as did in Berlin. But not a mark on the car.
Parked it at home, went out and a mate said to me, who caught your car, a neighbour or a visitor had caught the bumper and it cost me £250. Could not prove it, But I know who done it.
With the S550 had nearly 3 months, went to my detailer to get her washed, said to me, how you get that dent :frusty:
Than he showed me a little dent, which luckily his dent bloke managed to do for £50. So its all pot luck
As for a dash-cam, unless you film the person actually causing the damage, how can you prove it?
Only way would be if you filmed not only the numberplate but damage to his car caused by hitting you. In a carpark, pointless. Only good thing would be for security
And that's another thing, park away and on your own, your car stands out a mile to any A Hole passing.

People are known to key nice cars, specially when you park catty corner. Jealous people out there. I park as far as I can form store entrances

I only park in end spots with 1/3 of the car in the yellow zebra.

Fortunately, in my area, a Mustang (even if new) is considered a piece of crap. If you don't own a BMW, Benz, or exotic, you're a nobody. People deliberately park away from you because they think you're a broke ass loser.

Which suits me well enough. Less door dings. Though the wife still put one on the car a few months back.

I will find out soon enough the cost to repair the football size dent and 24" long scratch someone did to the rear quarter panel on my 3-month old car. Honestly, I wouldn't have been nearly as upset had the person taken responsibility.

It was like a town of Beverly Hillbillies.
