I finally got a chance to take the car out in the sun for a while today and get some photos of the paint defects of the front bumper. Does anyone know what I might use to remove them or am I stuck? I've tried clay, waterless detail spray, and polish to no avail. They are almost invisible in the shade, but they stick out in bright sun. The car is due for an oil change soon, so I plan to mention them to the dealer. Thanks.

Try 3m rubbing compound.

I can try rubbing compound, but I'm a bit apprehensive using rubbing compound on new paint. I guess I can take it real easy and not do any more damage.

Jasonstang, I can usually remove hard water stains easily with waterless detail spray, so I'm pretty confident it isn't hard water stains. There are lots of small circular hard water stains as seen in the close-up, but the problem I'm referring to is the larger crescent-shaped mark just below the rubber hood seal. It can also be seen in the first photo to the left of the sun reflection, centered above the emblem. As a last resort, I can try a more aggressive hard water stain remover just in case.

Gentlemen, thank you for staying up so late to reply. So my plan is to first use a more aggressive hard water stain remover (Eraser from Amazon) and then go to 3M rubbing compound. It looks like some kind of oxidation, but I didn't think it was hard water stains simply because my usual cleaner doesn't work, but I may be wrong.

Thanks again.

Some hardwater are very stubborn to remove especially if its been on the paint for a long time.
The beauty of 3D eraser is that it's not a physical remover meaning it's more of a chemical reaction so you are not damaging the paint using it.
