Just took delivery of a new mustang a day ago. I looked it over fairly well but today found a chip in the corner by the trunk? about 1/8inch
Should I try to get the dealer to fix it properly or just have a quality shop do it and pay myself. I would prefer not just a dab of touch up paint.

Sucks that I missed it originally.

I have used it and works perfect, the paint match is 100% spot on for oxford white. You would not be able to tell even from up close if done correctly.

I am +1 for Drcolorchip. 4 simple steps:

1) Clean chip area with max and grease remover or rubbing alcohol.
2) apply paint and smear it.
3) apply sealant.
4) hand wax and done.

We need a Dr. Colorchip sticky. This is about the fifth time I'm posting this pic to show the results.

Thank you Varekai! Your pics looks like the "road rash" type.
My chip isn't of the "road rash" type. Its a little smaller than a pencil eraser. Down to the primer. I read the DR colorchip site and it talks a lot about how it is great for road rash. Anyone try it on one chiped spot?
Do you still recommend for my issue?

I'm going to bring it to the dealer first, to see if they will do a proper fix since I just got the car. If that doesn't work then...

I do still recommend it, I used it to fix a chip that was under my spoiler. You'll just need to do a good five coats depending on how deep it is to fill it.

If it were me, I'd sell the car. Sure you could fill it, touch it up, etc, but you'll always know in the back of your mind that the chip was/is there. I'm not sure I could continue to drive it. That's why for my car I plan to opticoat, vinyl wrap, opticoat again, clear bra whole car, and then apply a third/final coat of opticoat.

I also will never park in a public parking lot, but if I must, I will park diagonally across two spaces. I plan to scout out roads in my "beater" on a daily basis before taking my Mustang out and risk encountering pebbles or pot holes. Sure it will double the length of every trip, but you can't put a price on piece of mind. I will also never drive closer than a quarter mile behind any car. :D

In all seriousness, though, I'd touch it up myself if it wasn't very large before I asked the dealer to mess with it.

Only 3 coats of Opti-coat? Man I need at least 5! ;)

Yaeh, that may be a better plan. As the saying goes, if you want to be sure something is done right, do it yourself. Well, unless you totally suck at it of course:lol:
