owners kit/need it?

Man. $275. . I never realized.

I hadn't looked at the sales of these things for a while. Considering several are being listed from $215 to $400+, $275 for a complete setup seems like a fair price.

For the any of these kits, I'd have the seller send a photo of the package with a card displaying their username.

For the few on sale, it looks like the contents of the kit are the same, but the boxes did change.

In 2021, the slip cover of the box, the Mach 1 was in FJG.

In 2022 and looks like 2023, the slip cover car photo changed to GBM.

[In '23, changed back to FJG? At least one copy (see below) shows, "yes."]

Many of the ones on sale, their boxes are damaged in some way. Seems the owners removed from the shipping package, and eventually dropped it, pushed something on it, etc.

I always wanted, and think Ford might have missed an opportunity, to offer a kit or option involving assembly photos, as the car was going down the line. Didn't need to be professional, or a tome. A few pictures, as part of the kit, individual, framed or as part of a brochure. IDK what it'd price like, but I think it would generated a healthy response when ordering the car.

Obviously a Mach 1 without the legendary owners kit that sits on a shelf collecting dust and being used as a paperweight is not a real Mach 1...

Get out and drive that Mach 1 and save that $275 for gas money. The real owners kit is that giant smile the Mach 1 gives you while driving and the habit of turning to look back at the car once it is parked.

Everybody is trying to make a buck with theses things. I bought my 350 out of state from a ford dealer in Ohio and had it shipped to me in Ca. The dealer had removed the owners kit and the owners manual. The offered to sell them back to me! Pretty damn ballsy if you ask me. I suggested that they self-inseminate, and FedEx them overnight for free. Guess they think that some customers are stupid. A couple days later I got them. Geez..

Another style over substance gimmick from the wizards in Marketing. I would have preferred a gift certificate to buy something useful. The driving school perk was well worth it and helped take the sting out of the price premium for a Mach 1.
