I'm considering ordering the Ecoboost Premium with the 50th Anniversary Appearance Package as well as the Ecoboost Performance Package. Looking at what's included in both, it seems that they overlap in two place:

  1. Wheels - The 50th Anniversary Appearance Package comes with 19x8.5" Luster Nickel Aluminum wheels, while the Ecoboost Performance Package comes with 19x9" gross black painted aluminum wheels.
  2. Dash - The 50th Anniversary Appearance Package comes with "dash panel with 50 years badge", while the Ecoboost Performance Package comes with an aluminum dash panel.

My question is - if i order both, which one set of wheels do I get (I'd prefer the nickel aluminum), and do the dash options get combined?

Performance Pack trumps both. The engine-turned aluminum dash is the only one with holes for the extra gauges, and all PP cars get black wheels to hide the brake dust given off by the Brembos on the GT (which isn't an issue for the 2.3T, but, whatever).

Axle spin dash trumps engine turn dash.

Unfortunately it seems like if you get the Performance Pack then the 50th anniversary package basically amounts to paying a silly amount of money for a bunch of plaques and badges. It's too bad that Ford doesn't reprice the packages when they overlap like this.

You still get the gauges
Right, but the machine-turned dash is shaped with cutouts for the gauges. The axle-spun dash on the 50th Anniversary Appearance Package is not shaped with cutouts for gauges. Hence the machine-turned dash would appear on cars with both the PP and 50th Anniversary packages.

From our understanding (which, admittedly may be incorrect), if you order both PP & 50th, you'll get Axle Spin with gauges.

Axle-spun dash has cutouts for gauges for LE cars. I think for dash 50th AP trumps PP, for wheels, PP trumps 50th AP.

Tricia's made a comment today in another thread about PP trumping everything else. That does kind of suck, as I preferred the Axle Spin over the Engine Turned, but I do like both, so I'll still be happy enough. I asked for clarification on the dash part, though, so we'll see.

I believe you'll get the axle spun dash just as it comes in the LE as it also has gauges and you'll get PP wheels

Just got back from the dealer

OK, so I just got back from the dealer; haven't placed my order just yet.
I asked them my question above, and simply put: they had no idea.

They told me I was teaching them something about the car! (Note to dealers - Never tell your customer that)

After scouring through the option booklet and reading the packages line for line (something I've already done), they brought in a manager and relayed my question to him. Here's what he said (paraphrased):

"(Insert 10 minute hype of the Ecoboost engine here)[THEN] Well the Performance Package wheels are what you're going to get, since they're larger to accommodate the bigger brakes. What's happening here is that Ford is just squeezing as much as they can out of this 50th Anniversary event. On our end there's nothing we can do - we can't, as a dealer, call up Ford and ask them to institute a rebate or more flexible package."

Thanks, mr. manager.

So, in summary, if you get both the Performance Package and the 50th Anniversary Appearance Package, you pay ~$3000 and get the all the performance upgrades, plus logos that say "50 Years" on the rear of the car, on the dash, in the seats, and in the floor mats. That means those 19" nickel aluminum wheels you're paying for as part of the Appearance upgrade? No dice.

Can we get in touch with someone at Ford to bring this up to? I am very uncomfortable paying $1500 for a couple of "50 Years" logos that aren't made out of real silver.

This has already been discussed a bunch and is a sore topic for those who did buy both for this exact reason, understandably.

Technically each package, separately, has a built in wheel "upgrade" part of the price since it's replacing the factory ones. Ford reps have replied on this topic but I don't recall what exactly was said other than sorry nothing we can do.

I got the 50th Anniversary Appearance Package SOLELY for the grill and the rear gascap. I can't imagine driving a Mustang that didn't have a corralled pony on the front grill, and that alone was worth $1500 to me to get OEM.

If you don't want it, don't get it.
