I'd say it was more temperature than anything else if it was 7C (44f) or less. The summer only P-Zeros are treacherous when its that cold. The wet not so much although damp/wet will make it harder for the tires to warm up.

But it seems the traction and default stability controls are not as good as they could be considering the tires Ford puts on them.

Gutted for you Ian whu. The key is that you are fine. This does remind me of TVR ownership though, lots of single vehicle accidents.
Similarly, I've got an Elise and the Lotus forums are always the same around this time of year too, particularly people new to their cars. The roads will be slippery as anything for quite a while yet, and I'm assuming most people (like me) aren't all that used to having a 400hp RWD car - electronics can only do so much unfortunately. And in the case of the Elise, there aren't any at all to help, which focuses the mind despite it being 250hp less powerful! I'm glad the Mustang has traction & stability control etc.

Hope it's all easily repairable

Sorry to hear that mate. Its surprising how powerful RWD cars can sometimes twitch when going up the gears.
Can remember when my C63 stepped out in the wet and cold on Michelins whilst accelerating moderately and it changing in auto not paddle or sport+ mode. Was not expecting it,normally very predictable, if you did want to hang it out very progressive.
Traction and ESP intervened but still a tense moment.

Ian,

When you feel like it, let us know what happened. You prob don't feel like talking about it, don't blame you and if you think uit was your own fault, even more so, However, I would like to know.

Did you stamp on it to accelerate?
Was you accelerating at all or just doing a steady 72?
What gear?
Did you hit a wet patch or was it evenly wet?
Did you come straight off the throttle when it lost traction or did tc come in?
In hindsite, do you think you could have done something different to save it>
Do you think you could have/should have done something different to stop it happening?

Sorry, I am not prying but we are all learning these cars. Yeh, I will be honest, I want to learn from your accident, if I can.

Sorry to ask all this and fine if you ignore.

Also what drive mode, wet, normal, sport or race?

I find in wet mode you can be stupid, like floor it on a wet roundabout and keep your foot pinned to floor it will just hold back power until your straighten up and it will then just try to prevent spin as you accelerate. In wet mode you can cover ground rapidly if your smooth on control inputs and work with car. Very much like DSC on a BMW!

However in normal mode the traction system can certainly allow you to get a bit wild and be slow to interact at times.

My advice if you don't hold a race license or have considerable track experience if its wet, then put it in wet mode and be smooth with inputs. Only use normal mode if your fairly handy behind the wheel in the wet.

In the dry the car is very progressive. But I will repeat a lot of the bad manners from this car in the wet and cold are because of the Pzero tyres.
