So i placed an order for a GT Premium today. Settled on a $500 refundable deposit. I had an X-plan pin that i was to give the salesman, but the salesman, even them manager said "oh we can take care of that when the car comes, we don't even have an invoice for it right now so we can take care of the X-Plan price when it comes." Has anyone ever had a situation like that before? Also, they tried to run me for credit, and kept asking me about my trade, to which i said, "its not a contract to buy, and its just a retail order, the trade and all that can be taken care of when the car comes." I don't think theyll take me for a ride, as I've bought from them before. But has anyone experienced that with X-plan? They just gave me a bill of sale with the full MSRP of my order including tax, title and license, minus my deposit.

You should get a DORA. That will show the pricing break down of A/D/X plans. I did not give my PIN until I went to pick up the car.

My experience was a little different. My deposit was $1000 and they calculated the xplan price. They did say that the price could change depending on the incentives at the time of delivery. They did ask if I was trading my 2014 TRD Tacoma. I told them no, I paid cash for my truck and will drive it until it dies. They asked how I would be paying for the mustang. I said possibly cash but if I do finance it will be through my bank at a lower apr than ford. The whole process was about 30mins. They said that it will be around a 8 to 12 week wait.

I used my BofA visa for the deposit. If they try to screw me, I have no problem with disputing the charge and getting my money back.

I even mentioned the DORA to the sales guy and he didn't even know what i was talking about. Gave me the deer in the headlights look. i may or may not trade my Taurus, depending if i can sell it privately before the car comes.

When I ordered the sales guy didn't know what a DORA was either. He only gave me the order sheet showing the price at MSRP. He also said that they would accept x-plan and the price would be calculated when the car gets there and it would depend on any incentives available at that time. I told him I was going to finance through my own credit union so we didn't do anything related to financing. It probably took me 20-30 minutes.

Ah that's good to know that my experience was similar. Now just to wait!!!

Also, when should I get an order number so I can track it in COTUS?

The last two Fords I purchased the salesman was able to tell me what the x-plan price would be before the cars were ordered. In both cases the price matched what I had gotten off the Ford partner site.

I also always go in with pre-approval for finacing. Dealers get paid for selling loans for local banks and they always can give you a better rate than you can get yourself from the same bank. If you are pre-approved they are motivated to do better to get the sale on the loan.

One more thing is Ford Credit, you quite often will get a rebate if you finance with Ford. I got a $1000 rebate on my wife's car using Ford credit and after three months I refinaced the lain locally for a better rate.

Same here, my salesman was the sales manager and he didn't know what I was talking about.

I ordered yesterday and it was pretty much the same thing.
The salesman verified via e-mail that they accept x-plan pricing and verified their x-plan pricing matches mine at this time so I am not worried that they will try to bump the price when the car arrives. He did also verify that my price will not be higher than the current x-plan pricing so I don't have to worry about any price increase.
They did not want to do the x-plan pricing paperwork until the car arrives in case the price drops or other incentives are involved.

Yeah my salesman said the same thing, he didnt wanna lock in any incentives or X-plan price in case things change, but he did say that the MSRP on the order sheet he gave me is locked in in case it does go up. Ive bought from this dealer before so im sure they wont screw me over.

X Plan rules state that you are locked in on the price of the vehicle at the time you place your order. Ford reimburses the dealer in the event of any price increase.

I understand that, but ill be giving my X plan pin to the dealer when the car comes. Im locked in to the MSRP right now, which, before tax, is about $37,675. With X plan, it'll be about 35k or around there.

I don't think that matters. If they take X Plan than it would be x plan price at the time you placed your order.

They did not take my X-plan pin when they gave me the order sheet. MSRP is whats on my sheet. They said they'll take the pin when the car comes in.

As long as you placed your order prior to the price increase then you are not subject to the price increases according to XPlan rules. It is irrelevant when they take your x plan pin. I suggest you read the plan rules so that the dealer cannot take advantage of you. If they agreed to take X Plan then they have to abide by the plan rules which are set by Ford.

Also, you should join EAA and get their $750 XPlan coupon because according to what I read in the conditions if you have the $750 coupon prior to it's expiration you can still use it when you take delivery. For $40 it's a great deal and more savings for you.
