Seriously -- 100% none of my business but if the only way you can afford a $50,000 car is to get a few grand off via X-Plan you are buying a car you really can't afford. Now the discount is nice and I'd gladly take it but but with all the Bullitt allocation issues...it is a minor issue.

And as Tony and others have indicated, you pull and supply the PIN at the time payment is made.
I don't think it's an affordability issue for anyone, it's simply not wanting to leave a free ~$2,000 on the table if it's available. I can afford the Bullitt but I'm not rich enough to throw away 2k without caring.

Yeah, that $2K savings would go into my tire fund - haha!

Bullitt - before attacking or belittling other's posts may I suggest you really try reading them first. Especially the part where I said: "Now the discount is nice and I'd gladly take it". Additionally my post was a stand alone and not tied to any individual. In the words of William S. I think he protest too much.......

Some cars they will not x plan, a plan, z plan etc. It all depends on the invoice and dealership. As far as I know, if a dealer doesn't want to sell the car at (x) price, they don't have to. I'd suggest not holding back intentions when you place an order.

So much for being able to walk into a dealership and ordering as many Bullitt orders as you want as someone else suggested....

I’m not attacking, why are you suggesting people can’t afford a car just because they want a common discount? That’s what sounds belittling to me.

I have heard that mainly on online forums, but I have not experienced that, nor seen it in the official X-plan information that's been shared from Ford in previous partner arrangements where I got other pins for other cars that were plan eligible.

It's logical a dealership could make that choice since they are setting the price on a "special (limited)" edition car. However, if anyone has a definitive information source from Ford that shows that in print, I am all ears (eyes?).

I guess my point is that I am x plan as well as a plan eligible and it is my experience that dealerships don't sell these cars at that pricing. Heck, there is no option for any discounted pricing on GT350s and there will be far less bullitts built in '19. My other point was that I wouldn't drop the bomb on the dealership when my Bullitt was in and demand x plan pricing. They would probably tell anyone to take a hike unless it was negotiated. My advice was be up front with your dealership.

I understand your point, but until that car is said to not be plan eligible on some official Ford information source, it's an open question. The Ford Performance vehicles, just like the SVT vehicles before them, have not been plan eligible. This Bullitt, like the 2 others before it, were not part of the up-branded Mustang cars like the GT350, previous GT500, or past Cobras. I believe the Boss 302s weren't plan eligible and were considered a Ford Racing-enhanced Mustang.

I could see Ford saying these are not plan eligible, which is why I am willing to pay MSRP at this time to get an early one.

Regarding production number, there is still uncertainty in this because depending on which Ford source any of us may talk to off-the-record, we'very heard different speculative quantities. Yes, there will be less Bullitts if it's only a 2-year model run, but there is a different customer group than for a GT350, especially with the fabulous 5.2L FPC engine.

I continue watching and wondering at this time because there's not much more to do at this point without driving myself crazy!

I hear ya. A lot of uncertainty at this point. If I was in the market, (at this point) I'd grab an MSRP deal as well if I could find one. Most will wait it out. If it wasn't for the 500 coming soon, I'd consider a bullitt, but I've got enough on my plate as it is.

Tony, all the best in your search.

Good luck in your search for a GT500! May you not experience this sort of ordering scenario :-) (although the GT350 brought it's own fun too).

I've already got my unofficial order in at a very low ADM with a dealer that I do a lot of business with. They are the same dealer that I attempted to post a lead for a Bullitt. It had an ADM, and before there was the information we have now, it wound up turning into a flame fest.

If you are interested, I would be happy to see if I can do anything for you. They were asking 5k, but I'd be happy to try for a little less. Me, personally, I would be calling all over the mid west trying to find an MSRP deal. Midwest dealers seem to have better pricing than larger east/west coast dealers (Ask me how I know). It all just comes down to how bad you want the thing (just like the 350Rs I have and the 500 that's coming. Dealers are in business to make money and a limited allocated car is a reward from ford for previous sales. That reward is turned into a profitable sale. I've said it before, I hope everyone who wants one finds one and some happiness. There are a lot of angry people hanging around this sub forum right now.

Best of luck to you!

Lots of late-model Mustangs

Tomster,
Sounds like we have similar "buying habits" Have a Bullitt coming @ MSRP and a GT500 down the road, again at MSRP. Have purchased 6 Mustangs and 2 other Fords all @ MSRP or less (Non "limited edition" cars) from the same dealer. Developing a relationship with a dealer pays off in the long run.

Yes, it does. Unfortunately I don't get MSRP deals on the special cars. Its probably a function of the market location. It is what it is. The old saying applies I guess, "If you want to play, you've got to pay".

As I am in the Midwest, I have kept my search local. If my dealer winds up with an allocation, I am down for MSRP approved by the General Manager. If it doesn't pan out, I have other dealers in OH and MI I would contact. Thanks for the offer!
