How long after you received a VIN and Order number did you guys get a date? Or the next update?

Reached out to my dealer on Friday and he responded with a Vin, but the Ford site just says order received and NA for date. Just wondering a ballpark for it to update with anything else

Ordered and email confirmed 4/28 by ford
VIN and First Build week assigned (8/9 build week) on 5/13
Build week update email (7/5 build week) on 5/20
No email, but as of Thursday, 6/17, both the order tracker showed in production and my sales guy pulled visibility report showing 6/25 build date.
Window sticker also appeared on 6/18 with a 6/25 blend date.
Checked today and still "In production" with a valid window sticker link
The delivery estimate bit has never had anything other than ETA for me after the first scheduling update

What's your build options? Did you have GT PerfPack?

Seems to be no rhyme or reason to build dates. One would think next ordered next served. But doesnt go like that. Im wondering if it goes but what options/etc one orders.
To me it makes sense to paint 50 red cars in a row rather than switching colors for every other car. I realize the painting is very automated and maybe it is not difficult to switch colors but that is just an example.

So this morning I emailed the dealer and asked why people here on 6G who ordered Mach 1’s ten weeks later than me are scheduled for production sooner than me.

He replied that his regional rep said the delays are because the plant was shut down but now they’re back up and running.

That has nothing to do with my question… sigh. So frustrating.
I have no idea, but I would think maybe the priority code the dealer used, maybe the allocation of the other dealers, could be a whole lot of things that play into it

A lot of that will depend on the options that you chose. If it consists of more high demand items your order will take longer than an item without those.

I ordered a silver premium with the handling package and no other options on March 22. I called Ford Marketing just now and they say my priority code is 01, with a July 26 production date, rescheduled a couple days ago from July 19. This morning my sales manager said he'd ask the regional rep if they'd consider revising my priority code, so don't know if it's always been 01 or if they just did it today.

@Robinc464 ordered HP, red calipers and Recaros on June 2 and is also now scheduled for production July 26, said he was originally later.

A priority code of 01 can only be changed by someone at Ford and that is the highest priority code.

Wow great, sounds like somehow I'm in the best possible scheduling position. Thanks as usual for your insight Zach! Don't know what we would do without guys like you and @Epiphany and others who are able to keep us normal schmucks from spiraling totally out of control. :like:

Could you please explain "priority code"and how one determines what that is.

Mike, evidently a priority code of 01 doesnt mean much if you order on 3/22/21 and people that ordered several weeks after you are already "in production". Id like to hear that explained.

If 01 is indeed a good code, I wonder if it was just changed today... my dealer discussed my late order with his regional rep this morning. Ford wasn't able to tell me when the 01 was assigned.

Found this posted in 2017 by a moderator on Blue Oval Forums (link to original post at the bottom). There is a LOT more detail in the original post but here are the highlights. My original priority code in March was 19 but as of yesterday it appears that the regional rep may have had it bumped up to 01.

Dealers assign priority codes to each order based on the Order Type. Stock orders are assigned priority codes 20-80, retail orders are assigned priority codes 10-19. The priority codes determine the order for which vehicle orders are to be selected and/or considered for scheduling. This overview doesn’t consider commodity issues (model, powertrain or option scheduling restrictions) that may be in place for a scheduling week.

The highest priority that a Dealer can use for a retail order is 10. An order with a “10” priority code will schedule ahead of an order with an “11” priority code, etc. This allows Dealers to prioritize the order in which vehicles are scheduled, especially when a Dealer may have multiple retail orders in the USOB (Unscheduled Order Bank). With the WBDO ordering system, retail orders default to priority code “19” so it’s important that a Dealer change the priority code to a lower number if they want the order to be considered for scheduling earlier compared to other orders.

A Dealer needs allocation each week for scheduling for each vehicle line. Even without allocation for a vehicle line, Ford is pretty good at trying to schedule retail orders even when a Dealer doesn’t have allocation that week. When a Dealer knows that they don’t have scheduling allocation, it’s always a good idea for them to provide the retail order information (Body Code & Order Number) to their Ford Zone Manager and the Regional Scheduler. The Regional Scheduler can reprioritize the retail order to priority code “01” which basically forces the Ford scheduling system to schedule the unit ASAP unless extreme commodity restrictions prevent the scheduling.

Ford scheduling is done on Thursday’s but at times scheduling may be carried over to Friday’s due to scheduling, commodity or other issues. Vehicle scheduling confirmations are available on Friday mornings for allocation scheduled on Thursday.

Dealers have access to the “Vehicle Visibility” application which provides status updates on a 24/7 basis for any vehicle order.
