I don't know why I do this to myself as I am all but completely sold on a 2015 GT PP, but dang what about the prices on used C6 Z06s? I just can't not take it on as a serious contender for my 40 grand.

Am I nuts?

Not at all. You can't go wrong with the Z06.

Well, carguy, you are a CAR GUY :)

I have been going back and forth between a Corvette (love the C6 and C7 both) and a 2015 Mustang. I still do!

Purely on price, you are comparing two performance-oriented vehicles. Both are cool.

I think both will offer different enough experiences when you live with one of them - not just the car but the lifestyle.

I think your dilemma would be solved if you got both :) This is what I wish I could do!

Overall, I think the new Mustang should offer a great experience. Good luck in your decision process. It's torturous - hahaha!

Not at all.... it's a heckuva bargain and prices are very very good right now.
But a bigger question is what you need the car for - if it's track events, for example, the Z06 will take you far further than a Mustang. It's a complete car, with every single thing needed and none that aren't - except seats. It's dry sump engine is unbeatable by any current Mustang or anything on the horizon. And it's light weight can't be beat either. You'll need a trailer to carry your race tires, but that's easily done. And there is plenty more power available if needed to help it keep up with the newer C7.
The Mustang may be more practical because it's something you can drive anywhere and not worry about leaving parked somewhere. It'll; depreciate, it'll get obsolete when a significant new model comes out, and it is easily disposable unless modified extensively.
But it all comes down to what you want to do with the car. Each have their inherent qualities. You can't make a Mustang into a Z06 beater on track, and few people drive a Z06 on a daily basis, or can given their job's parking situation or their city's traffic situation.
