They can try lol, imo tinting these bright ass lights is perfectly safe. Stock they light up my neighbors 2 story house across the street and blind my friends when they walk up to the car. I would think as long as you record them working if you were to get in an accident you should be ok. In a video it is clear you can see the brake lights working. But people are dumb so ya never know.

I've seen a magnetic with lightly smoked taillights and it looked amazing. If I were to do it I'd do a light tint

The type of person to attempt such would likely notice your hardwired radar detector and claim you were speeding if you were to hit them as well.
