AUSTRALIAN 2017 MUSTANG GT with PERFORMANCE PACK

ON STARTUP “SYSTEM OFF TO SAVE BATTERY” MESSAGE APPEARS

- ALL SYSTEMS SLOW TO BOOT UP ie SYNC3, RADIO, CLIMATE, ETC

- TEMPERATURE CONTROLS WORK IN REVERSE ie: drivers side operates passenger side & passenger side operates drivers side

THIS PROBLEM HAS REGULARLY OCCURRED OVER THE LAST 18 months. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO PATTERN FOR WHEN IT WILL OCCUR. IT CAN HAPPEN AFTER A LONG DRIVE OR PARKED WHILE SHOPPING ETC. AND IS USUALLY SOLVED BY STOPPING ENGINE AND OPENING D/SIDE DOOR TO RESET.
THE CAR HAS BEEN BACK TO DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES AND SYNC3 HAS ALSO BEEN REPROGRAMMED AT LEAST TWICE BUT THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO LOCATE ANY FAULTS.

MY QUESTION HAS ANYBODY ELSE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS?

It sounds like your SYNC 3 might still be locked in Transport Mode (from manufacturer to dealer), which while in that mode it’s supposed to be on reduced power to protect battery life.

Read SSM 46913 for Transport Mode and also take a look at SSM 47444 regarding various SYNC 3 errors.

Based on SSM 46913 and 47444, if SYNC 3 is reset, it might resolve your issues. You can do the reset yourself by following the steps in GSB G0000010.

If your Dealership needs to be involved AFTER you tried the reset procedure, have them follow the order of instructions in GSB G0000176 for SYNC 3 reprogramming.

As for your concerns with the reverse order of the temp controls. I believe what has happened is either the harnesses at the back of the switches were reversed when assembled, which if true, the plugs would just need to be reversed. If it’s not a harness connector issue, then it’s a software fix that can be done by the Dealership by going into the “As Built” data and correcting the “LEFT” vs “RIGHT” parameters. Also someone familiar with Forscan can probably review and do the same.

Hope that helps.

Electrical issues cause all sorts of problems...bad ground defective battery with bad cells?...should be fixed under warranty....

Thanks for the reply but all of the above have been checked.
The car is OK most of the time and temperature controls work fine, no problem.
This fault only occurs at intermittent times and usually after boot up scenario as described.
It is a strange fault !!!

Have you yourself rest the SYNC system per the GSB? If not, do it and see if it helps. Never trust what the Dealership says they did, because they may have reprogrammed X but forgot to do step Y... know what I mean?
