Hello Guys...

Took delivery a couple of days ago, already have some tasteful mods planned.

Some carnage pics, I am a NO sticker kind of guy.

Dont know why they came sideways...

My only concern is that my buddy has a GT350 with about 4k miles and his manual transmission shifts so smooth, and mine is "hard" to shift you have to put some force into the shifts... is this a break in thing or should I check with ford?

Thanks!

unplug battery for 5 min, reconnect drive a few days and see if it improves. I did that and it was100% better.

I believe what you are referring to is more of a ā€œnotchyā€ shift feel. Mine is like that and from what I hear that is a normal characteristic. You should not hear any grinding.

Edit: if you want that ā€œone finger shiftā€ experience, then MTW makes a replacement. I say leave it alone and let her rip.

No, no grinding it just takes more force to get the gears in... more notchy sounds ok too... Wondering if the transmission gets broken in?

Iā€™m not the best person to answer that question, but I believe that is just the shifter feel. Nothing to do with the tranny.

New owner with Tremec. About the first 50 miles or so, I struggled sometimes to get into certain gears. Probably some of me, getting used to the car, and the car, breaking in (and getting used to me).

After those first few drives though, I have no concerns.

I agree, Skye. I have about 500 miles and mine is still notchy. I use that term loosely, because for some people that word may be used to describe a negative attribute. For some it may not feel that way, but you can definitely feel the shifter move into each gear. I wouldnā€™t say it takes ā€œmuscleā€ but itā€™s not effortless. It still feels smooth with no grinding or slipping in and out of gear. The Tremec is awesome.

Stickerless Machs are nice to see. Good taste.

I'd attribute the notchy shifter feel to a combo of just getting used to the car, and it being a brand new transmission. I'm assuming here, and granted that we all know the saying... however, with your bud's being a GT350, I'd wager those 4,000 miles have decidedly not been dainty ones for the drivetrain.

Give it time to break in.

By the way, Iā€™m with you 100% with taking off the vinyl. Iā€™m a minimalistic type of person and Iā€™d do it in a heartbeat if I knew I was keeping this car forever. I know you can always replace the vinyl, but I donā€™t want that hassle if I decide to sell or trade the car. The S650 has a lot to do with my hesitation, but who knows how I will feel about that car when itā€™s on the market.

Agree. These attributes yes, but not in a negative way, yes.

My Tacoma is at the other extreme. 140,000 miles, RedLine oil. When the temperature is just right, its like a hot knife through butter, but with decidedly more tolerance in the movement of the shifter. LOL.
