I've read a lot in the forums about oil usage during break in. They even mention it in the owner's supplemental manual. My '20 GT350 is at about 500 miles and I checked the oil today. It's full, and haven't noticed it burning any oil. Granted, I haven't yet tracked the car, but I have done some "spirited" driving. Any one else having such luck?
My 2016 has 20K miles, multiple track days. I've added a total of 1 qt. in 5 years.

In my first 18, it was burning oil at 4K miles. The 19 gen 2 motor that replaced it did not. I just picked up another used 18 with a original gen 1 motor and it’s got 42k miles on it. I’ve driven about 1k on it, no oil usage. If it was going to take a shitter, it would have done so by now. So buying with 42k miles did not concern me. Oil usage seems to happen with a 5 to 10 K window.
May well be that if there is no oil usage at all by 10 K that it won't occur for the life of the engine. What would concern me is those that use some oil but are not driven enough to have it progress if it is going to by the time the warranty runs out and that would make me hesitant to buy a Gen 1 with low miles and out of warranty. Case in point is my 17. Early on used a quart in 3300 miles, progressed to 2200, 1800, and stabilized at 1500 until about 27 K miles and has rapidly progressed to 1200, 800, and now twice less than 500 miles now with 29.5 K on the engine so I'll be taking it in for an oil consumption test next week.

In my first 18 with Gen 1 motor it was using 1 quart every 125 miles, I had to do two consumption tests. They filled it up, told me to drive 250 miles…I did, then Ford wanted me to do it again…so I did and it was approved for the new motor. My case was pretty clear well above the 500 mile limit per quart. But yes it can happen at any time, but if you look through the threads it typically happens in the numbers I listed.
