Anyone have any experience with this?
Valve cover? (I hope)
The story so far:
Saturday I got a strong smell of burning oil while driving and began to check it out. Parked & idled... No drips, and the smell/smoke disappeared after a few minutes. I figured I'd splashed a puddle that had a heavy oil sheen on it and it just took a bit to burn it off... no big deal, right?
Last night the smell is back when I'm a block from home and I'm able to stop, shut down, and park for the night. This morning I back out and find a small pool (about the size of 2 quarters) and the smoke/smell begins as soon as the cats start to warm up... Crawl under and there's a trail of oil flowing down the exhaust pipe on the driver side... Seems too far to the rear to be the oil filter/cooler, and too high up to be the transmission...
The only thing I can think is that a valve cover is leaking, but I don't have a lift and can't get around to looking at it... So I'm trying the dealer thing... They can't get around to it until tomorrow.
Your thoughts are welcome (to at least calm my nerves while I wait for news about this and for Game 6 to start.)
