Yeah, I'm abandoning the Tesla efforts, and moving on to the 10.2 - It has a more native Android UI, a recovery option, and hard HVAC controls.
Ok cool. i think they are both awesome units and IMO the tesla looks better, but factory hvac is a big deal for me. nice to have so many options!

The car has been out for 3 years, why still no option for Premium cars. I guess most are satisfied with the junk Sync 2 so they are not making much noise

if you think Sync2 is junk, try having a base radio.

I feel that. But one of the reasons I got a Premium was for Sync. I just didn't realize the 2015s had a different Sync than 2016+. It's worthless to me honestly

there are so many threads of people having sync issues its all junk as far as im concerned. resetting and pulling fuses, disconnecting batteries, that stuff shouldn't ever happen on a 30k car. theres no way that garbage should have ever made it into production vehicles of any cost. theres no excuse. my 18k 2015 scion came with a great radio that did everything sync was supposed to, and it actually worked.

>end of sync rant

Damn, I never realized people had that many problems with Sync... I guess I'm lucky that I decided to go with the base model and Tesla screen route

I think most issues were fixed with Sync 3. It's the Sync 2 from the 2015 and older that I have issues with. And the fact that there are no good upgrades is the other annoying thing. Oh well. Live and learn.

Im still waiting for my tesla unit to come in. Im interested in flashing your g2 software to it.
Im pretty tech savy to i may try to adb to the unit to get it to pull up recovery im sure you guys have tried this already. I wonder if we could use something like rom kitchen if my mem serves correctly from being on xda. Im positive that there should be a way to get in via software...
But if i can get the pass from you for the software thatd be great will def donate some funds for ya for the effort thanks alot and looking forward to see how this baby works.
Im not as interested in the 10.2 version yet as I would have to buy another stock unit. I like being able to have the option of leaving my base radio unmodified incase i need to plug her back in for warranty concerns with the car....

Never had any issues with Sync in any of my Ford products with the exception of my 2013 Explorer Limited. Finally a version came out to fix the bugs and it was gravy after that. no issues with it on my 2015 and it works as advertised. Not sure what all the fuss is over it

Getting into recovery isn't the issue. You can get into it using software. It's getting into it when you don't have software available (bricked). If you tinker and mess something up in the OS and it fails to load, you are screwed without any sort of hardware reset/recovery menu option. I assumed trying to use a USB cable/laptop and doing ADB sideloads, etc have been tried already. I don't know why the maker hasn't worked with Patrick or Stang on getting a working solution as I think more people would be comfortably on board knowing that if the system bricks, we have a way to recover it instead of shipping it all the back to China...

My only annoyance at this point really is the time never staying. Going to the settings gets old. I figure there is probably a way to get a tasker program to do it but I haven't bothered messing with it much lately.

You're right on that one. However, I might have a solution for 2nd gen but still working on it. As for the time, I forgot how I did it but it's a little tricky. It's possible to make the unit save your new time. I'll try to check whenever I get some free time.

Turn off DST, and set your Time Zone forward or back one from Eastern, depending on if it's an hour behind or ahead. No DST in China...

Oh, and he refused to offer any kind of recovery method for bricked units, claiming it was a proprietary process that was patented against release, which is bullshit. It's not JTAG, I'm fairly certain it's shorting the Key1 wire to ground and hitting RST, but I don't think anyone ever tested it.

That's the million dollar question. It would require process of elimination. We know which ones are for power, ground, illumination, and speakers, so it would be "one of the remaining wires."

I just don't know which one. It could be one of the CANBUS wires...
