Official Tesla-Style Head Unit

Just take your time. Pulling off the dash trim was the only thing that worried me because I hate breaking clips on plastic crap. There are some basic, non Tesla head unit install videos you can watch to see what's needed. Also remove the hardware that holds the shifter/center console in place so you can slide it back to give yourself more room by the unit. Just make sure you test everything before bolting it back into the dash heh.

I spent around 3 hours start to finish taking my time.

Some of the clips may break I notice a couple of mine did.

I managed to install and remove the unit more than 10 times, without ever moving the center console.

I did break clips on the dash where the vents are, but you can get a bag of them pretty cheap, I'm sure someone has the part number laying around.

Yeah I figured I could do it without pulling the center console. Thanks for confirmation on that one. And I already bought clips expecting them to break

i pulled the center console, its no big deal. remove the four screws up fron. two on each side. take a prey tool at the compartment. start to pop it out and pull up along the length of the console. it will make a lot of noise. dont worry though. it does make it alot easier to get the HU out.

i spent two hours with the seller and his engineer. nothing worked to get the sound to work. ill be sending my unit back. sucks because i know im going to eat the shipping costs.... unless anyone has a base unit and wants to buy it for what i paid, $625 shipped

I've had this unit and the Moddiction unit in and out of my car multiple times and always had to move my center console. Without breaking the little tabs at the bottom of the head units, I dont see how they can come out without moving the console.

I agree. Didn't even attempt it without removing the console.

I removed mine so many times. Between Tomtop, My prototype, Tesla HUs, I never moved my center console and I never moved my shift either. I never broke any tabs either... Take your time and you'll get it out if you really don't wanna remove that center console.
