Ok looking at the back of my unit there are too many pins to guess at which one to short to get into recovery. Im guessing it would be in proximity to the ground but that is in the harness away from the fuse.

I might play with it on my desk later.

Just gotta figure out which one is Key1 and short it to the ground.

/!\ Little update /!\

@Pablotheartist removed by accident his app to change the bootscreen. I was able to get a backup from my HU. So far, He was able to install it without any issues and it worked fine whenever he wanted to change his bootscreen. I know 2nd gen doesn't have the apk for some reason. I'll be glad to share it but I don't know how your HU will react to it. His HU is a 1st gen. I would assume it'll work fine because I'm pretty sure it's what the manufacturer used in the first place to make your bootscreen and removed the app later on...

I'm not sure how to get it on out side of the car. 12volt to the power pin?
yes, I know that you also have to connect another wire (At least on 1st gen) or else it won't boot.

hmm I assume there is a 12v , ground, and probably a power line.

I just had a thought if you look at the stock harness to see whats pinned. The Key would probably be the line that isnt connected to anything in the stock harness but is connected inside the tesla unit..

I didnt take a picture of the stock connector though.

Key1 seems to be your SWC so it should be connected somewhere on the car lol.

Ah hmm I tried that to get into recovery. But perhaps.
I'm not talking about pressing on the key of the SWC but you need to find on the harness the wire KEY1 and ground it.

Loving the unit. I have mine setup using nova launcher instead of the UI with audio glow (owned it already from my last android HU in my WRX). I got a nice, clean layout, everything seems to be working good. The only annoying things are the wifi and time when starting the unit. I have tasker launching my google play on start up and will probably figure a way to get it to automatically update those two things.

I did like how that stock browser wanted FULL access/control to my google account, LMAO. Replaced that one real quick.

Yeah im not following you:p

I was saying the mustang side of the harness has positions that are not used.

If I open the radio and look at the pins that are actually connected(or run some where on the PCB) I assume the key will be a pin that is NOT used in the cars harness.

I think i saw a pin out for the card side in this forum. so that should allow me to eliminate pins that are not the "key".
