Official Resonator Delete Thread

I can not believe that someone will not make a bolt on kit to do this. Or to replace the X pipe and do a resonator delete bolt on kit.

No way to make it bolt on, you would still have to cut the factory catback and do slip fit joints

That would be fine with me. I have seen pictures of some of the welding jobs people have done and they look awful.

I got my resonators deleted about a month ago. The shop welded the heat shield on which lasted about a 100 miles until they started rattling. Went back and they welded the shit out them but they rattled loose in another week.

The worm style clamps just didn't seem strong enough due to their design and the fact that they don't lock in position.

I installed a set of these higher strength clamps and added another nut so they could be locked in place.

It would be very similar to the GT setup from Ford Performance and others. I don't see what the big deal is.

Not a big deal, just not a bolt on. A bolt on is reversible IMO

It's going to be very hard for me not to do this... My only reservation is when I deleted the resonators on my '15 GT it lasted for 1 night until I could get back and have them welded back up! It was WAY too loud and the wife and kids couldn't ride in it. I guess the flaps help but I like to drive around as loud as possible without being too loud. I need to hear one in person since it's hard to tell from videos.

You can leave it in normal mode when they are in the car. You will get a volume increase in sport mode, but IMO where the bread and butter of resonator removal lies is in it's ability to pop and backfire on deceleration. It's insanely addicting. Resonator removal also apparently promotes potential for flames out the exhaust, so I've heard

I have the same concern. When my wife was in the car the first time I had to put it back in normal mode. I'm also kind of worried that if I start it up in the early morning it will wake up my kids.

Finally got around to tackling this today. I went out and bought a chop saw - always seem to accumulate tools to address mods - and a new metal cutting blade for my sawzall. When I was cutting the rear of the resonator out, I left a little piece of the exhaust in there. That piece is really wedged. I tried to dislodge with a hammer and the edge of a chisel. My hand slipped and banged into the back of the resonator and I'm now in the ER waiting on some stitches.

Any tips to get those small exhaust rings out? I was thinking mabe some PB Blaster and the claw of a hammer.

I wouldn't say I regret it but if I had it to do over again I probably wouldn't. I'm not thrilled with the blattiness at 3500.
