Fixer upper. Granite counter tops go in in Thursday. :clap2:
Funny, I am an appraiser and have had to value crap like this. We'll not quite that bad, but I have been in some shit holes.

Yes! I've been getting it for a few mixed drinks, can't be beat for the price when used in that capacity.

How's the High West? I've been seeing that around town, usually for a pretty good price, looks like they've got a few options.

It's awesome, the stuff I bought was American Prairie Reserve, they have a few others including a rye (I'm strongly against ryes), this was one of their cheaper ones on the shelf. It's smooth as glass neat and I usually have some if I have the rare opportunity to enjoy a cigar in a cold day.

That's a nice haul, thanks for sharing! I have never had Buffalo Trace, will have to scope it out next time I'm at the liquor store
Buffalo Trace will change your life. In the southeast it's usually the same price or a couple of bucks cheaper than a comparable bottle of Jack Daniels #7, but it's 94 proof bourbon and can actually be drank on the rocks without feeling like you've burnt out your throat. It has a slightly different taste when mixed with coke if you're used to JD (it's sweeter), but not bad. It's a great mixer, too.

That sounds good for being a creamy drink. I find that I usually get a full feeling before I can attain that level of comfortably drunk with most creamy drinks. Four Roses is a hidden gem, even the regular stuff. Slightly sweet and good for cocktails, and not expensive. I made what I called blood orange old fashioneds for my halloween party. Four roses, Solerno blood orange liquor, muddle orange wedge/cherry, peychaurd's bitters, and coated the rim in orange flavored sugar (in lieu of adding a sugar cube or simple syrup to the drink). Pretty tasty.
Nice, I copied that into my recipe files :D

The "Milk Punch" isn't too heavy since it's just whole milk, no cream or other other thick ingredients like Irish Cream - and it's decently diluted from the bourbon and the shake/ice.

Yeah, a few years ago I was researching and so many sites talked up Four Roses and it's been a staple ever since. I generally go with the mid-range small batch, it's usually in the $27-29 range around here which is a steal.

The mules we do are basically a shot of good bourbon, to a small ginger beer, and if you can find Fever Tree (in 8.8oz bottles), it's fantastic, all natural, REAL gingery, like red hots! Then a lime twist and some fresh mint (slightly muddled), over ice, in a copper cup if you got it.

In fact, I might make one right now :D

You guys must all be pretty wealthy (or in mortgages up to your eye balls), impressive houses..those would be pretty expensive and not very common in Pensacola.

I am still renting and probably won't be able to comfortably afford a house for another 5-6 years, so I have no photos of the house itself (because it's old and pretty god damn ugly...white siding.), but here's some of the stuff in it that I actually care about. I've only lived here since last Feb so still haven't really gotten everything.

My humble living room set (tv used to be in my bedroom, I'll eventually get a nice 55" for the living room)

My pub set (intended to go with the bar, but the 'formal' dining room isn't large enough.) Refinished it after I bought it used, also have a corner chair. For now it's the breakfast/dinner table until I buy a house that will fit it.

And my bar. I built this last winter, still have to finish the stools (painting black) and get the foot rail. Also fucked up one of the connections on my light strips so I've got to resolder/wire some of the upper shelving.

The garage isn't too bad either, I basically did a full renovation on it when I moved in, repaired holes, new paint, put in base board, new lighting. Workbench is a POS but it was already here, may build a nicer one later to replace it. I'm personal friends with the landlords and they've reimbursed me for every dollar I spent improving the place so it's not too bad of a gig right now.

Funny enough, we ate at Mojos this afternoon, great BBQ joint in the area (it's local, there's 4), but one of the things they specialize in is bourbon cocktails ( the use Buffalo Trace, Old Foresters), some classics like a Mule, Vieux Carre, a few really real change ups like a Jalapeño Julep - awesome food too.

No problem there, drinking alone gets old. I have found that after building my own bar, I never go to actual bars anymore. Haha

MaskedRacerX If you want to try a pretty damn good summer drink (I mean, you live in FL too so that's almost any time), try a Lynchburg Lemonade. It's made with Jack Daniels, sprite, triple sec, and sweet&sour mix. 1 part of JD/Tripl/SS, then top off the glass with the sprite. Great stuff to get drunk on the beach with. use 66 proof triple sec for a sure way to a good time. Doesn't have to be JD but that's the namesake drink. I've done it with Jim Beam many times... hell you could even go down to Evan Williams if you wanted to. All of the mixers tame down the whiskey flavor a lot.

South Georgia house.

I have not finished remodeling.

None of the bedrooms, bathrooms or kitchen have been worked on. I just stay here when working out of Jacksonville, Brunswick area.

Nice, yeah, they make it into rotation during the summer, especially if the BIL is down with his family (he's a big JD guy). We mix them in a cooler and add the Sprite on site for each drink over at the beach.

We've also done them with just bubbly water, my wife doesn't like drinks that are too sweet, it's solid too.

So I didn't do a Kentucky Mule, went with a recreation of drink I had while we were out today;

Buffalo Trace
Hendrick’s
Orange
Gourmet Maraschino Cherry
Rhubarb Bitters

Henricks is my "go to" gin, so I knew I'd like it. Wasn't sure of the ratios, just went with 1:1 on the bourbon:gin, a large twist/wedge of orange (just walked outside and picked one), had rhubarb bitters, used the smallest splash of Grenade to simulate the cherries.

It's __good__.

Nice, should have figured you knew what LLs are. How is mixing gin and bourbon? Have not tried that.

Here's a pic from our Universal trip a couple of weeks ago, Hard Rock, had a blast (we go down about 3 time as a year, season passes).

Anyway, can't be without good coffee so took the small Chemex, mini grinder, some good beer (that's a whole separate thread), some Absolut Vanil/Citrus ...

... and for the bourbon turn this thread took, a nice sipper for the room, in the left rear of the photo :D
