got some bad news from my dealer today... APPARENTLY the EU has not approved the homologation of the seat belts on the convertible yet... so they haven't started producing any convertibles :( the press cars got an exemption - and apparently these cars from the Belgian Ford Facebook page were these same press cars...

I'm so sad now :( I had secretly hoped it was being built already - but I guess not :'(

What the deuce is happening!!!
I know Ford rushed things a bit, but Europe is not helping them at all either.

Of course Europe isn't helping. Ford is a US company moving labor away from Europe (They moved the 2.3L EB engine manufacturing to the US from Spain for example). They rather have you buy a car made in Europe.

I read that the 2.0 and 2.3 ecoboost are made in Valencia. Wikipedia I think.
Dunno if I should be happy or not it's made in the US. The states are not perfect either.

All mustangs are being built in flat rock. I have never heard they would be built anywhere else.

What 2.0? Surely there are only 2.3 and 5l options.

A car being built doesn't mean the parts are created there. The engine can be built somewhere else, the wheels also. It is assembled at Flat Rock. ( for my knowledge)
I'm talking about 2.0 Eco because Focus and other use it, and 2.3 and 2.0 are not that different, why use 2 different plants?
Just like the iPhone. Made in China, designed in California.

-The 2.0L EcoBoost engine is produced at the Ford Valencia Engine Plant in Valencia, Spain with future production planned at Cleveland Engine in Brook Park, Ohio.[22]
-The 2.3L version of the EcoBoost engine debuted in the 2015 Lincoln MKC crossover. Based upon the 2.0L EcoBoost, the 2.3L engine produces 289 PS (213 kW; 285 hp) @ 5500 rpm, 305 lb·ft (414 N·m) @ 2750 rpm. This engine is also available in the 2015- Ford Mustang, with power figures of 310 hp (231 kW; 314 PS) @ 5500 rpm, 320 lb·ft (434 N·m) @ 3000 rpm.
The 2.3L EcoBoost engine is produced with the 2.0L EcoBoost at the Valencia Engine Plant in Valencia, Spain.

Maybe they will make them in Cleveland in the future. Taken from Wiki, could be out of date ofc.

A further edit, where all the Ecoboost engines are build:
The V6 EcoBoost engines are being assembled at Cleveland Engine Plant No. 1 in Brook Park, Ohio.[6] The 2.0 L I4 EcoBoost engines will be produced at the Ford Valencia Engine Plant in Spain in 2009.[7] The 1.6 L I4 EcoBoost engines will be made at the Ford Bridgend Engine Plant in the United Kingdom.[7] The future small displacement I3 EcoBoost engine will be produced both at the Ford Cologne Engine Plant in Germany and at Ford Romania.[7]

3.5 Eco is Cleveland.
Big I4 engines are Valencia.
Small I4 engines are UK.
I3 engines Romania(I wouldn't buy one made here :)) )

I wouldn't believe that Europe is so.. smart to block external manufacturers. This could be a game played by USA, because it's a very 'unite' nation, but not Europe, where all countries are divided by something (language, culture, interests).
We absolutely aren't "United States of Europe".

Well ofc we are not united. Every country has it's interest. Also there are developed countries and not so developed. I'm part of one of the undeveloped, and I don't find it fair that we piggy back others. If we're too lazy or narrow minded to upgrade, then we deserve our faith.
Anyway, I can't wait to get our cars, the I4 subforum is so scarce and most of the US have GTs.

WTF???

This is not possible. Did not you log into COTUS to double check progress status of your unit? Frankly, I do not believe the cars may be even offered for sale within the EU unless they have been homologated first. I suspect your dealer is fooling you (or at least, trying to do so..!)
