Seems like an insignificant increase. Maybe the truck 5.0 is tuned more to maximize whatever fuel economy it can manage to compete with GM.
Pretty much this not really a direct comparison at this point.

The F-150 also has different cams. They will get quite a lot more out of the DI add than for the truck spec.

Mustang by sheer engine speed, and increased volumetric efficiency will make 20+ hp over the previous 5.0. I suspect torque to rise by 10-15 only (high rpm shift will do that).

The F150 just by seeing a larger bore should have gained just as much power keeping EVERYTHING stock as it was. The new DI/PI setup is definetly power under the curve and MPG for the F150. I wouldn't be surprised if it'll start getting 'as good' mpg as the ecoboost. But it has much less torque so the Eco will sell for towing. Max towing package probably reserved for the Eco.

450 hp seems to be the number that the new 5.0 will achieve.
This does not seem to be much of a improvement.
I think the Camaro will stay out on top and by a huge margin.
The TT 3.5 is badly needed in the Stang.

Forget peak number ratings, I want to see what the DI and increased compression does to the lower rpm power. That will be more welcome to some than top end power.

I remember when this thread first came out. I voted 460HP Back then. Just enough to top the SS for a year or two. Not anything near GT350 numbers. Six months later. I still don't know if I'm right and what I won for being right?

I just did some more research and found the new F150 makes its new numbers at the exact same rpm. This confirms my suspicions and is really good news for the mustang.

+25-30/10-15 is exactly where the Mustang's 5.0 should sit with 475 a strong possibility.

Can't argue engine speeds. Ford will also claim a 30-40hp gain at 7,000rpm as a cherry on top. I wouldn't expect big low end gains. Perhaps 5% nothing more. Engines acting as air pumps just don't work like that.

What we do know is that no one knows what will happen. In another couple hundred of pages of false information, this dude said this, fake leaks, fake news, conspiracy theories, GT500 news, front end complaining etc maybe we will get some numbers

Well, down low with the Ford Performance tune you gain like 40lbs of torque. Though they usually don't give the standard tune that power b/c they don't want grannies shredding tires or going sideways. We already have enough cars & coffee accidents! But they might "soup up" the Sport and Track mode buttons some for more hp/torque as well as throttle response.

FACT:
The 2018 dash shows redline has been raised 500 rpms.
2017: 6,750 soft, 7,000 hard redline
2018: 7,250 soft, 7,500 hard redline

So when you factor that increased RPMs the max HP should be significantly more.. .
At 6,500 rpms it should be like 20 more hp - ie: 455
at 6,750 rpms it should be like 25 more hp - ie: 460
at 7,000 rpms, the max hp should be like 30 more: ie: 465
before fading off to soft redline

The F150's are already FAST as F*&% for a truck. The 700 lb aluminum diet has made them extreme fast and agile. They really don't need any more hp, and besides as others have pointed out, they need to keep the 3.5 Eco above it as the top of line F150 engine.
