Thanks TN....really can't wait to see one here in the UK. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we get one at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in late June.....even if its just a static display.

In the meantime, I'd love to see a bigger version of your avatar ;)

Looks great to me. Would love to see it in black or magnetic.

I don't think they have shown Kona for the 18 yet. Kona is super dark. Hopefully it looks much better than lightning (camaro) blue.

Any news on when Ford are going to release the next round of information on the MY18? Power output, pricing etc? Has been deafening silence from them since the hype and big reveal in January.

Guys at Ford Performance, this weekend in Pensacola, said about 459HP.
Pretty much all due to Direct Injection.

So "about" 455hp like everyone has been saying... 459 would be a weird ass number to boast.

I'd be shocked if it was more than 455-460, Ford is always pretty conservative with power bumps when it comes to standard offerings.

Not when they are trying to best the competition. A 455hp Mustang is going to be slower than a 455hp Camaro.

It's going to be competitive, and that's all they care about right now. In all reality, they addressed the biggest complaints that kept some from purchasing the s550. The dropped the front end to reduce the aircraft carrier hood, they increased the interior quality and they offer more options. Right now, Ford only cares about milking as many sales on the S550 platform as possible.

I agree, unless that magically raised 55 lb ft of torque.

I guess 455 but I'm hoping 470.

Ford went from 225 HP in 1998 to 260 HP in 1999. Ford went from 260 HP in 2004 to 305 HP in 2005. Ford went from 315 HP in 2010 to 412 HP in 2011. All of these are regular GT #'s and I wouldn't call these conservative power increases, two of which happened in the MCR.
Well aware....the 35 HP bump for '99 was primarily much better flowing cylinder heads and intake tract, as was most of the bump in '05. I don't see any such radical change to the 5.0 outside the addition of DI (the current heads flow pretty well), and I don't think that DI alone will be that significant, maybe 3-5%. Unless the GT also gets essentially the GT350's head airflow capacity....

Mustang is still handily outselling the competition at the current output. Ford doesn't need a big bump to keep things interesting, IMO. The power bumps of the past were still conservative compared to Camaro/Firebird outputs. Well, when they were around that is.

They are saying that the entire engine is different except for the crankshaft, so...

Just from a marketing standpoint I don't think they'll do 455, simply because some may perceive it as Ford "only" catching up to the Camaro in terms of power. What's an additional 5 hp? Bragging rights, as pointless as they may be. I'm betting on an even 460 hp.
