I removed my hood insulator this morning, and I noticed, the heat extractors have cables attached and bolted to the hood - What purpose do these serve? I have a 2015, so, no turn signals. I would like to unbolt and cut the other end, removing these cables, as they now hang down, and serve seemingly no purpose. Thoughts?

I believe they keep those parts tethered in an accident instead of them being launched after an impact that would loosen them.

What he said^^^. They turn into ninja stars when the hood crumples in a crash. Watch this video at 1:00. You can see the body-color plastic cover goes flying but the actual vent is retained by the cable.
