I just got some upsetting news. I found out that Arizona does not have 93 octane anywhere. My family and I are suppose to move there in a few months and I didn't know this. Literally just found out now and its a huge bummer. I currently live on the East Coast and there is 93 octane everywhere. My GT350 has only ever ran on 93, what in the heck will I do now. I'm assuming people just settle for 91 but being my car has always ran 93 I can't imagine going down to 91 it will be happy. Looking to see what you guys on the West coast, more specifically Arizona do for gas in your 350's ?
I read that Arizona has 100 octane but is it leaded or unleaded and i've also found a mixture calculator how to make 93 from
87 & 100 or 91 &100 , etc..... Is this what people do on the west coast?
I know another option would just be to get a flex tune and run E85 permanently, however I am not sure I'm ready to void my 2018 warranty yet with only a few thousand miles on the clock.
Would love to get some awesome feedback from you West Coast people. Maybe you can get me stoked about the move again here.

Can't believe on the West Coast where its beautiful all the time and I'm sure there is gorgeous exotics , muscle , etc for cars and they don't have 93. Freaking absurd !!

Thanks........

hey welcome to the west coast...where you get 91 octane at $4.20/gal.

you can use 91 octane in your shelby.
Do you loose a lot of performance /power?

I live in AZ and I run a 4 to 8 gallon blend of standard 91 octane to 100 octane unleaded race fuel which makes a fuel about 94 octane. I can do this because I live near a gas station that sells the race gas out of the pump (the race gas is still about $8.50 a gallon). At least from the butt dyno the car definitely feels stronger on the 94 over the 91 but I have no measured data to say exactly how much of a difference it really is.

I will be honest with you, when it comes to fuel choices in AZ (at least in the metro Phoenix area it sucks). In Phoenix, we don’t have 93 and when it comes to ethanol they only sell E54 flex fuel. As far as I know there are only two places in town that sell race gas out of the pump and only one place that sells E85 out of the pump (because everyone sells the E54 flex fuel).

I am not trying to be a downer but just giving you the straight story. I am waiting for my car to get out of warranty before I do any kind of tune but when it does I will probably have the car tuned for E54 because E54 is about 94 octane and it is a lot cheaper then the 4:8 blend I currently run.

It is hard to find 93 on the west coast so many of us do run with the minimum octane rating of 91 (per the owners manual) with no issues.

The real answer is it depends. Mostly it depends on ambient temperatures. If it's a super hot day, you will lose a lot more power than if it's 50 F.

There's only one gas station relatively close to my daily commute that has 93 octane, so I almost always run 91. I've never noticed a difference between the two with respect to power. But I'm in a relatively cool climate. The 90+ degree days are fairly rare here.

I'm moving into the Gilbert/Scottsdale area. Think its about a half hour from Phoenix. Will I have options to the 100 octane? I think that is going to be my best bet doing a mixture to get 93-94 octane. Another question is the 100 octane race fuel leaded or unleaded? Not putting leaded into my car. Thanks

If you move to Gilbert, there is no race fuel out of a pump that will be close to you. There is a station in Scottsdale that sells race fuel out of the pump but it depends on where you wind up in Scottsdale that will determine if it is close or not. I don’t know what size city you live in in NY but the cities here are fairly large so just because something is in the same city does not mean it is close or convenient to get to.

Both places that sell the pump race gas sell 100 octane unleaded (this is what I buy) and 110 octane which I believe has lead.

Going back to your practical question, I run ethanol-free Chevron 94 when I'm home here in Canada, and I run 92 Chevron or Shell when I go to WA for track days. No difference in performance that I can tell. I've taken 94 with me a few times, just to see if it was worth it, and it wasn't.

Heard this stuff only really raises octane by the tenths. Not sure how true it is but wouldn't I be better off mixing 91 and 100 at the pump ? Seems like the more bullet proof idea.
Torco does work.

It's not like the off the shelf crap at the gas stations.

But it turns your plugs orange which could cause warranty concerns as I believe the manual states not to run an octane booster.

Also, we only have 91 in CO as well, but with the elevation it doesn't matter. I'm not even sure where the closest place to buy 93 is..

As far as exact location where we will be I believe Talking stick Casino will be close to our home.
