Octane 87vs89vs91vs93 for EB

So I live in Canada. We do not have 93 at all, it comes to 87, 89, 91,94.

Ford says 87 gives you about 11% less in HP and a bit in torque, what about 91? 91 is fairly common and I can get it from Costco for cheap price, like about 94c per litter. However petro Canada wants about 1.2-1.3 for 94 octane which kind of unacceptable.

Maybe ordering the power pack from ford in summer to stick with 91 but until then, what should I do?

Anyway how much hp and tq loss are we talking about with 91 octane?

Just a wild guess, 91 is about halfway between 87 and 94, so I would say split that 11%. Just a guess tho. I would say if you want the performance just get the 94, if it's your wallet, then get the 87. Back when I had my EB I couldn't stand to put the cheap stuff in it.

So another problem arises. Shell Canada offer 91 without ethanol.

On the other hand, petro Canada offer ethanol added 94 so I m guessing probably 91 or 92 with a bit ethanol.

Does it worth the extra 30cents which is about 15 dollars per tank? it is about 600-700$ every year or so.

another question is that whether the mustang ECU will calculate base on certain octane grade or does it calculate on every single grade.

For example, if it only calculates on certain grades, using 93 or 94 or 95, it would not matter because the ecu can only calculate on 87 grade and 93 grade.

BUT if it calculates on every single grade then obviously the higher they better, so 97 octane would have high hp and tq than what is stated by official ford?

Just use 94 then. I use 93 all the time

No idea myself but I have a friend here who swears his EB was much faster when he pumped 97 into it compared to 91. Sorry, I don't bring much to the table.

So last question is 91 without ethanol with booster vs 94 with ethanol, which is better?

I'd go 94 with ethanol, no issues with ethanol with these cars. I'm not EB so correct me if I'm wrong anybody. Most times it's 93 but if all they got is 92 I'll put in a quarter tank than fill it up with 93.

US and canada, shell's 91 v power is pure gasoline with no ethanol, which i heared from alot of ppl, that performence gain over 91 with ethanol is noticeable

I didn't know that. There's a Shell by my house, I'll fill up there this weekend.
