Awesome picture, but you were off the carrousel, so you missed the carnival ride effect. Well done either way.

Im still not happy that limp mode is so easily obtainable. Maybe not by me know; but it is a shadow of doubt casted over the Shelby line from Ford.
your catching shit but it is unwarranted in my opinion. your first two laps ever on a track without understanding what ambient temp was is hardly proof there are not serious temp management issues. I am a bit surprised you can do 150 sustained though. I might change my fluid. 100-120 in 85 degrees plus gets me to 240-250 in 2-3 minutes. What was the weather?

Yeah, i was very vocal about limp mode, and there is a certain group of the same guys that seem to have some personal issue with anyone saying that it exists. Even though it doesnt effect their car. Ive been lucky and havent induced limp mode, but they dont seem to understand "just because it hasnt happened doesnt mean it wont"

The temps have been low 80s. And the drive was about 1.5 hrs each way.

I would slow down for speed zones; there are surprisingly a lot for a highway that isnt supposed to have speed limits; and the random azzhat that pulled out in front me. But I would be right back to 150 when I could.

I have turned on my transmission temp guage so I'm pretty certain 250 was about as high as it got. Like i said I wasnt pushing the Shelby to its capabilities on the Ring so that didnt do much as far as temps goes. Am thinking of a high speed country road drive with a lot of curves. But the car had a lot more to give.

What temps do the trans and dif fuilds start to break down at?

Awesome lemers

Very balsy to jump in there and just go at it! Thanks for writing it up!
Congrats on not just avoiding limp mode but also getting you and your 350 out of there without any damage.

Couldn't agree w you more about the limp mode spectre hanging over all non cooled 350s.

Good for you for making it a family outing- you need to get a caravan going to bring them all next time

That my friend is the 64 thousand dollar question. Despite rampant mischaracterizations my largest fear has been the long term performance of both given the cars share same exact service intervals and fluids yet base and techs especially those in hot climates will not have remotely the same duty cycles.

A guy had his Diff spit fluid from the overflow, which is in a horrible location. He put up some photos, Its all over the shock and wheel well. lucky it didn't coat the brakes.

No Problem. I was a fun experience. And one my daughter wants to go with me on the next time.

My wife drives a Traverse and we just bought a used Kia Rondo for my son, maybe one of those would make an interesting track photo.
