lol nah that's just the boosted life. my wrx blew its coupler twice.

No, it's not. Couplings should not blow off on stock boost levels and if you have a project with boost cranked up, there are ways to stop it. Don't half ass a car when you mod it and that doesn't happen. Not just more power has to be attained, but all the parts to hold that power together, even things like clamps and couplers, have to hold that power also.

Thats good to hear, hopefully thats what it is. What does a vband do?(noob) im 18
V - Band clamps hold flanged joints together, it's not something you use on plumbing that you slip a hose over a pipe and clamp on the other side of a bulge in the pipe to keep it together.

There are better quality hose clamps than the screw clamps that come from the factory. T-bolt clamps are a common up grade for turbo plumbing. These utilize a bolt that goes through a cross shaft on each end of the band and are tightened with a nut.

worm clamps aren't that great especially under boost. try replacing them with t clamps...may help a bit better.

This happens more often than you think on the trucks we work on. One particular tech on the other shift never tightens down the turbo clamps enough and sure enough, POP. Sounds like a flat, sometimes the hose will caught just right that it'll flutter like a flat too. Then we have to send out another tech to rescue whoever took the truck on a test drive. I can't tell you how many times his ass has been reamed for it.

Don't worry. Just tighten it up and continue on. Thankfully your engine bay is still clean so wasn't likely that you dusted your engine.

If you have the normal worm clamps... Make sure not over tighten them, that is also an issue and could lead to boost leaks if you damage the hose.

Can the stock worm clamps be tightened with just a screwdriver?

ah the boost life... my IC to TB hose popped off a few times on my WRX. but at that time i was running 19psi, up from the factdory 14.5 psi. i replaced it with a t-bolt clamp and it never happened again.
Same with me in my sleeper Volvo S40. It used to happen quite frequently until I upgraded to t-bolt clamps. It's not fun having to put intercooler hose back together in 100 degrees on the side of the freeway.

These should not be popping off for any reason on a new car! I have a 2013 VW Golf TDI with 55k miles and play in the boost all the time. Just another thing on the list to do if I get the EB.

This just happened to me, glad to find out that its not too serious. I'm getting ford to take a look at it and hope the hose did not get damaged.

This happened after I put in 94 octane in the car for the first time. Do you think it could be related to that?

I know this is an old thread but I took my car in for service today and one of the items on my list was to check the hose or hoses and clamps coming off the turbo. It was because of this thread that I asked them to check mine and because I thought I heard a small vacuum leak beginning. When my service advisor brought my car around after they finished the first thing he said to me was nice catch, the hose wasn't on all the way and the clamp was very loose. I'm going to be taking my car on a long road trip to NY in a few weeks and wanted to have everything checked out before I go. So glad I took my car in. Everyone with an EcoBoost should either check theirs or have them check it when you take it for an oil change.

BRUUUUUH!!! you have a golf pushing out 140 base hp...LOL. Of course you have no power to pop hoses...an EB mustang is pushing almost 3 times the power.

My Evo was popping hoses pushing 25lbs of boost, I switched to T Clamps...

Better hoses and T clamps will fix the issue though...
