Hey all. I’m guessing this is the evap problem most are experiencing, but just wondering if it started with a sound coming from the compressor sounding like a power steering pump sound. Every time the hvac cycles the noise comes on and goes away. Thanks

Sound from the compressor is not related to the evaporator which is behind your dash... Either the compressor itself, bearing or belt is bad.. Start with the easiest first, belt and go from there. If its under warranty, do not touch it and take it in.

Thanks for that. I do agree but dii the compressor go out from low Freon due to leaking evap. Goes in on Wednesday to find out.

In my case no. I had cold air on one side and warm on the other.. They performed the evaporator TSB to repair it about 1.5yrs ago. Been working like a champ since. Ensure you get a receipt for work done and keep it on file.

Thanks for your reply. Of course, I take the car to the dealership and it isn't making the noise from the compressor this morning. Still no ac but never fails. Yesterday I started it in the garage and you could turn on the hvac system and it would be there and shut it off and it would quit. Find out shortly tho.

If the noise comes on when ac compressor activated then most likely you have either a bad compressor clutch or perhaps just a squeaky belt.
Compressors rarely fail since it is just an impeller inside the housing. Unfortunately instead of replacing the clutch which is majority of compressor issues the technicians replace the entire compressor.
Good luck.

Got a follow up on my issue today. Field coil needs to be replaced in the compressor. Parts are ordered. Leak down test showed nothing in 24 hours. Hopefully all will be good afterwards. Very good mechanic and has been there for years. I’ll report back.

Compressor/clutch failures are not uncommon on these cars. You’ll be up and running soon.

Update on my repairs. They ended up replacing the complete compressor on my 2017. Hopefully this will be the last of the repairs on the ac. All under warranty. No for a road trip.

I had a whine when my HVAC was on and no cool air, Ford replaced my compressor and condenser but insisted the core was okay.

Update on my a/c. Finally got a cruise in and not to happy with the a/c temps. The day was 75 degrees, and had the a/c on auto and was not feeling very cool. Turned down the temp and still not much change. On max it felt somewhat cooler. Does it take a while for all the new Freon and the new compressor to break in or do I make another trip to the dealer. Frustrating. Thanks

Got the mustang back to the service dealer. They checked things over and said the preasures are spiking and some type of junk is clogging up the accumulator in the system. Still waiting tho.

got the mustang back from the dealer today. Changed out the accumulator and recharged. Hopefully its fixed, it was cooling on the way home but that's only less than a mile. I will check it out this weekend. I'll be in touch
