Anyone make an A pillar holder?
I don't think I've seen a mount specifically for there.
But I'm sure you could mount one there if you wanted to.
Maybe just attach a standard ball mount if you're willing to screw into the plastic.
Or is there an airbag in there? Probably not a good idea if there is.

Pro-Clip 100%. My only complaint is that the phone holder portion tightens the wings that hold your phone with just two phillips head screws, which back out over time from vibration and let the wings loosen. Gonna try some loctite on them next time I tighten it up.

Besides that though it's perfect, and the phone is in the ideal location for quick glances or operation without taking your eyes off the road.

That looks clean enough but I'd constantly be hitting it with my leg/knee.
My seat is back far enough so my knee doesn't come close.

Glad it works for you.
It just wouldn't for me. My seat is almost all the way back and that's exactly where my leg rests, especially cruising down the highway.
Still it could be a good option for some.

Long legs!
I could see where some may have a problem.

You youngsters are probably going to flame me for this, but your phone should be in your pocket or in the trunk while you're driving. No need to be looking at it. Look at the road instead.

have you TRIED fitting a rigid 6" long object into your pocket? Unless you wear pants with cargo pockets, there gramps? :)

(yeah, yeah we know what you have in your PANTS, I asked about your POCKET)

My phone sits upside down thrown into the change tray. anything I need to do is done by blue-tooth interface so sure, I could toss it into the trunk... But then I wouldn't be able to answer my earth shaking 911 emails and surf Twitter/FB while sitting at the red light.

Yeah, you knew what I was going to reply to that, right? LOL

Hey, throw the phone in the tray or on the seat, that's fine if you want to play with it at a traffic light, I'm OK with that. It's the folks that have it mounted up on their dashboard so that it's in their direct line-of-sight that I have an issue with.

I bought a 3d printed one that goes in the tray under the switches. It works great and I have no complaint about the product but ultimately I just decided I didn't like having the switches and hvac blocked by my phone so I took it out.

I normally just put the phone in the door pocket. I think about putting some felt padding inside there to make it ride nicer.

I started off with a pro clip but ever since I got a second vehicle I wanted something I can use between them. I decided to go magnetic. I got a Schoche magnetic and attached it to the Pro clip base. Holds up well.

That of course depends on whether you're using the phone for something appropriate or not. I'm less of a fan of Waze now than before, but I'm using it every day for navigation and live traffic updates (e.g., "car stopped on the road 500m ahead", "speed camera in 300m") - and I can't think of anything else appropriate - the phone should obviously be in your line of sight, and not in the cup holder or similar where you have to take your eyes of the road.

I like this one from xiaomi and have been using it for about a year now. The logic is not perfect, but works well enough and charges the phone at the same time:
