Here in AZ we replace our windshields at least twice a year. Crazy DOT puts stones on the side of the road. . .go figure

Windshield business is thriving here in AZ

I've got a guy here in Houston that will do any window, any vehicle for $150 cash. Not once have I used insurance. Not worth the claim.

When I had to have my windshield replaced, a local company charged $300 for OEM glass.....
I highly, highly doubt it was OEM glass. From Ford, or the exact same vendor they use, the exact same windshield that went into the car originally.

For $300.00???

No.

Yeh doubtful. I think they S197 OEM windshield even through a bulk purchaser like Safelite was around or just over $400

Generic for $300 sounds right. Nothing wrong with them really either. Gotta include labor in that they aren't installing for free.

I think you are talking about windshields. I've never used anything but OEM windshields so maybe generic is as good for windshields but when a neighbor's baseball broke a side window in my pickup, the glass company was supposed to use OEM but showed up without it and talked me into using generic with right of refusal if I didn't like it. They said it would be indistinguishable from OEM. But it was so wavy, you couldn't even tell what brand/model of car was being reflected in it when looking at it from the outside. It was like a fun-house mirror. They redid it next day with OEM.
