I'm going to be ordering a 2020 GT A10 for my next toy. It will see minimal street use and be a max effort FBO NA car running E85.
It will be only ran on E85.
From my research I'm leaning towards a 3:15 and 300A package.
Should I spend the extra money on a 301A? Doesn't having a tune pretty much eliminate the need for the modes?

I have never driven a tuned 300a car. People always say that tuning eliminates the need for the modes. I can tell you that there is a HUGE difference between drive, sport and drag mode in the 301a and higher packages. If a tuner can keep normal drive mode civilized and make a 300a car behave like drag mode when the shifter is in the sport position, that should be fine, especially since your car will see minimal street use.

If you plan on a ton of racing. Get the cheapest, lightest car you can find. Your tuner will work his magic on your transmission shift pressure.

Get the 301a. Drive modes, speakers, sync, interior lights, and the biggest is the bigger screen. Throw some leather pull off seats in it and you have a 400a.

The resale on the 301 is massive difference to the 300 cars.

If you are hardcore 10% of the miles will be racing. Don’t suffer bad sound, crappy screen, no sync, no drive modes for a few hundredths(maybe) worth of weight 90% of the time.

You won’t regret the 301a. You might not regret the 300 but you probably will.

I have pretty much the same goals and use as you have described here. I picked up a 300a car with 3.15's. I actually called my dealer and asked him to get the cheapest 3.15 car he could find and that is what I now have.

No regrets.

Oh, and I don't think you need the drive modes for what you are looking at.

My car isn't done, far from it but with a tune and e85 it shifts fine at WOT and just cruising around. Went 11.8 on stock 18" wheels and 11.5's on 17" DR's which is on par with other tune/e85 cars I see. So, I don't think drive modes matter much once tuned.

I got the 300A and am regretting it...the extra $2K would have been worth it. Working on figuring out what parts I need now to start retrofitting Sync 3 into my car...

300A no regrets here. I wanted the lightest possible car I could get. Drive modes didn’t matter as I knew I was going to be modifying. Navigation, leather, heated seats etc do absolutely nothing for me. But to each their own.

300A with tuning is same as drag mode. Lol.
who wants to drive around normal with a mule kick shift 5 times from 0-hwy speeds or into a curve ..its nice to be able to tone it down when need be ,but if this is just a drag race /street car and your only using it for business then i guess it doesnt matter !!

My drive shifts like stock with normal non wot. Tuner can set it up (most don’t) however you want. Fyi.
