Hi Guys.
I'm a new forum member from Australia that has been lurking here for around a couple of weeks.
So I've decided that I'm in the market for a 2018+ Mustang GT. I think I would prefer to buy one second hand although I will be looking for some end of financial year specials on new models, especially with the current state of the economy, I might be able to swing a brand new model.
The dilema I have is a lot of the second hand Mustang GT's in SA don't have Magneride. Im currently driving a VW Golf 7R which Ive had from new with adaptive suspension and I've also owned a E92 BMW M3 (with adaptive) and a Subaru Liberty GT (without). I very rarely go to a track and I usually enjoy going on 'spirited' drives thru the hills. In the cars Ive had with adaptive, I find a setting I like and it stays like that 95% of the time. I've never really been keen on coilovers, the most I'd probably do is get a set of lowering springs.
Ive looked thru the US section and nobody really complains about the Magneride but the question I have is for the guys with normal suspension, How is it compared to the Magneride? (The US section has me a bit confused with all the PP1 etc...)
The other question I have is about the Recaros? I'm keen just to get the normal seats but there is a car interstate with the specs that I like but it has Recaros. From the research Ive done, it seems if you are a bigger guy (im 110kg) the Recaros aren't the most comfortable. ( I'm sure they would be awesome for the track but I might do that once a year).

I'd appreciate your feedback, and Ive enjoyed scrolling thru the Aussie Picture Galery, there are some great rides. I was especially keen to see the 30+ Mustang cruise in S.A....... can't wait to joing you guys!

Hi xSouthSyde welcome to the group! I can with confidence suggest not to do the Recaro seats, they are great if you're not too large and want the extra support but otherwise not too good in a daily for a bigger person. The stock seats are good enough. The magnaride is an excellent thing and worth having however very little money spent on the suspension can yield great results. Few cars if any offer the aftermarket toys you get with Mustang! I note how different the pony is to your previous rides?
As your interested in joining others in cruises can I recommend you join our local South Australian facebook group the SA S550 Ford Mustang Owners Australia. Lots of great people and cars, helpfull information social gatherings with cruises.
Look forwards to meeting you one day with your new Pony!
Danny

Thanks Danny!. Appreciate your input and as soon as I get my new ride I'll be sure to join your group, even though I dont really use FB. The only reason I'm asking about the Recaros is there was a spec that I was keen on in Melb but it sold over the weekend which was a 18 Grey GT, with Magneride but it sold over the weekend. The same dealership has another Grey 18 GT with Magneride but with Recaros and as a bigger bloke, I can see them being a little bit harsh. especially on our 'great' SA roads lol!
I think I'll just be a bit patient and try and get a car with Magneride, I dont see hardly anyone with it that regrets it.
What spec is your Mustang?

Edit: Also I'm very new to the whole Ford/Mustang seen, is there any other forums or sites that I should be aware of? I had a bit of a search over the last week and this was the main site that I had seen an Aussie presence in.

Ha ha I'm not a facebook user except for the Mustang groups and that's through my wife's profile!
In addition to the SA group there is also a national group S550 Ford Mustang Owners Australia. You will be surprised at how active these groups are and the huge amount of information available. There are a couple of other forums on our Aussie Mustangs but they are sub pages for Ford's. I don't use them so would need to do some chasing and get back to you.
This Forum is by far the best for all things S550 however you need to know/learn the spec difference between our Aussie Stangs and USA packs and options.
You're right in thinking Magna is a good thing (so is the 10 spd. auto?!)
I've had my MY17 GT for three + years and love it! The build quality isn't Jap or Euro standard but it still makes me smile every time I drive it.

Yer, I'll have to use my misses FB to join you guys also haha and yer im going with the 10 speed auto, my misses doesn't drink, she can't drive manual, and I will be needing a designated driver hahha plus I drive a truck, so I cbf changing driving manual, how are the paddle shifters in the autos? Probably not as quick gear changes compared to the twin clutch gear boxes I'm guessing but I just miss the sound of the V8 that's puts a smile on peoples face everytime

Yep nothing, like the twin clutch but not bad when you allow for the delay, I use mine often!
Oops quoted myself instead of you!
The sound of that coyote never gets old, I hardly bother with music when driving!

You should definitely go for magnetise
As regards recarros I think it depends on your body shape
If you are over115kgs then it may be better to stick with standard seats which are great anyway

I'm 88kg and I've got the standard seats. I love them. They are very comfy and i absolutely cant drive without the heated/cooled seats - which are not available on the Recaros

Yep, thanks for the input. I think I'm definately set on the Magneride and Standard seats. Cheers!
I think I know the answer to this question but I'll ask it just to be sure.
If I buy a MY18+ Mustang, can I get things like the black out package retrofitted from Ford or do I have to use an aftermarket company? I'm also wondering about some of the door stripe packages (not the OTT) can I get these put on from a dealer if I'm not ordering a new car?

LOTS of aftermarket options for both appearance and performance even in Adelaide! I know Maugham Thiem Ford can help and guess so can other dealers. Heaps of options!

Sweet!
Has there been any info out about a MY21 Mustang. Don’t they usually come out at the end of June? That’s like a month away.
Just wondering in case they start doing deals or n the MY20’s to clear up room for new stock

Can somebody tell me the name of this side stripe? I think it’s OEM but I can’t find it on Ford Australia website.
I’d appreciate any links if you have them.
Edit : I’m new and can’t work out how to post a photo so I will link an image of the R Spec which has the same type stripe (but I have seen these on the odd GT in Aust)

Usually referred to as a hockey stick stripe.
I'm not sure if that's what Ford actually calls it.

How's your hunt going? I've just joined up to the Mustang world on Monday :) I bought my 19 at auction for $46k with 13k on the clock so pretty happy. I was determined to get factory seats as I live in Brisbane so want the cooled seats. Even now at the start of winter, the first thing I noticed about the car is that it gets really warm inside with heat from the engine, so I've been using the cooled seats lol

I also wanted the magneride but VERY few cars have it. In the end I didn't worry about it. My car already has lowering springs on it and honestly it handles so damned well. Sure Magneride may be "better", but the car is so capable regardless, I wouldn't think you're going to regret not having it. Don't get too hung up on it if you can't find it.

Lastly, what the US calls their PP1 (performance package 1) is what our standard GT's come with by default (the front lip spoiler, 6 pot Brembos etc).

Cheers

That’s great man. I’m glad you are loving your new Mustang!
I’ve been struggling to find cars with Magneride also.
There is one interstate but the price is a bit on the steep side and it’s a hassle buying cars from interstate especially when they aren’t in a capital city.
I’ve decided to get some quotes on a new car, if I can get a good deal I’ll pull the trigger.
Today my first dealership gave me about a 8% discount off retail but I’ve heard they can do up to 15%.
