Hey everyone! I have a GT PP with mainly suspension mods (Eibach Sportlines, BMR sway bars and CB005, Ford Racing dampers), and as the car is not my daily driver, most of my driving is corner carving on the weekends and the occasional track day. I have a couple questions (some of them are probably pretty basic and likely to have been covered before, but please bear with me) as it pertains to changing out wheels and tires on these cars. Also please keep in mind that I'm very early in my search and just trying to gather some info:

1) I like the look of the stock PP wheels, but I would like to shed some weight. When looking for light weight wheels, I've noticed that there's several different manufacturing techniques--how do I know what will be a durable wheel for occasional track duty? I like the look and weight of the MRR M350--what's the opinion of those wheels on here for track use?

2) How much does increasing the tread width affect handling and balance? What are the pros and cons of a staggered setup versus a square setup, particularly as it pertains to the PP cars? I know they are staggered from the factory. Using the M350s as an example, how much different would the balance be going to such a wider wheel and tire?

3) Random question, but do you need to buy new tire pressure monitors for new tires, or can you you the factory ones? Believe it or not, I've never actually purchased aftermarket wheels!

4) I know that you need to get the speedo recalibrated when changing wheel sizes, but what about going from a 255 tire on a 19" wheel to a 275+ tire? I know the aspect ration plays a part, but I'm obviously not 100% on this one.

Sorry for the long post, but as I said, I'm just trying to learn as much as I can at this stage. Also, if anyone has any recommendations for light weight wheels (I'd like to stay at 19") that are good for occasional track use, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance for the help!

Hey if I may allow me to help out here.

So for sheding weight ( your stock PP whees are 33.8 lbs) you want a rotory forged wheel, why is this a good option also is because if you want to track their more durable as well.

The question about a durable wheel.

You want a wheel with a good construction type ( a rotory forged, flow forged, flow form, spun forged etc) type of wheel is a good option both for this and also its not super expensive as well.

That being said all wheels regardless of cast or fully forged cant fail its just a combination of speed + angle of impact + object of impact = cracked wheel) so no wheel is impervious of damage.

Now I helped develop the M350 wheels and im the #1 dealer of those wheels as well. Ive taken care of alot of the clients here on the forum on there M350 setups some use them for just street some use them for the track as well. So far not a single bad thing has been said about them and when you pair them with some killer tires you get a damn good combo.

Going wider is better to a extent you get a added footprint that makes the car more stable.

As for the tpms question you can reuse your factory tpms if you desire and or buy new ones if you dont want to take them off your factory wheels. The change is so minor you dont need to recalibrate the speedo at all.

Let me know if I can help out.
