I am under the humble impression LTI vettes are easy 11 second cars from the factory.
Maybe under perfect conditions. Like the the 10 speed mustang needs to get in the 11s. Trust me on 5his. Corvettes are nothing special in a straight line.

I'm not familiar with the different versions of the Corvette. The magazine article was the first one I found and did not look further. It said in 2017 the Grand Sport was the most popular Corvette. Probably because it's in the 55K-60K range. Honestly if you really want to drag race a Mustang I would suggest just add a blower to it and put some drag radials on it.
The Grand Sport is basically the Z06 with the LT1 engine instead of the LT4 engine. So it has the handling of the Z06 without the raw power.

I just looked up a "Motor Trend" article on the 2017 Corvette Grand Sport. They said the 7 speed manual did 12.2 in the quarter and the 8 speed auto did 12.0 in the quarter. My Scatpack did make a 11.979 run in Montgomery Al. It was stock except I put some 275/40 tires on the rear because it came with 245/45 tires. More usual for it was about 12.0-12.2 depending on the DA. That puts the Corvette right in the ballpark. I believe The 2018 Mustang A10 runs in the 12.0-12.2 second range under good DA. To me that makes it a driver's race. I think the Mustang needs more rubber on the rear before starting any mods because it spins these Michelins too easy
Here is my .02 and it isnt really worth that. As a former LS2 C6 owner who used to drag my car a lot, the C5 Z06, the C7 and maybe the LS3 C6, stock, are underestimated. I get roll racing, drag racing, may have a very different outcome. The Vette shines on the roll and can drag too (assumed a good driver). With that said, the information is out there. Some Vette guys run their cars hard, I met some during track days. Being the C7 has been out a while, there are some track times, beyond magazine racing.

On CF.com, folks have to provide timeslips, along with some integrity. Some folks have been called out but I will say this list is pretty accurate. A timeslips mean there is no wx correction factor. This is what these cars can do on a good track, good weather and with a good driver. I am sure not everyone who runs post on forums either. The average is higher than these runs (in the 12’s it seems). As it is, these are the top ten bone stock C7 runs...

Oh, so you were there and saw the pass? Take it up with him and especially Snorman. He runs cars into the 7’s bone stock (1/8 mile ;) ). Seriously though, go on the forum, call them out. Challenge them. Some will take you up. Actually, some are in New Jersey and if you would like, Ill let em know for you.

I Kind of forgot I even posted this. The car is an A10. I wont mess around with just a tune and headers. If Im going to put my warranty in jeopardy then Ill go all the way with blower or turbo. Really considering that new hellion kit for $6500. Yes, then I will put bus lengths on him!

When you get done with the tuning and little stuff it will be 10k go with a vortech v3-JT trim and make your 700 rwhp and 10.20 135 mph passes consistently and that will cost closer to 6500$

Guys,

As usual you are comparing apple to orange in term of 1/4 times. Motortrend times are on a non prepped surface, a normal road. On a prepped surface a C7 will do a lot better, because despite having big fat tyres, starting is not easy. So on the drag strip on a prepped surface a C7 is a 11s car. Though drag racing is not its strong suit, which is braking and taking corners and reaccelerate really fast...

Here you can see a stock A8 vette vs a stock A10 2018 GT PP1 in a roll

Boost it and be done with him. That is the only way to go. If he beats you by 1.5, then when you come back and race him again you are going to just need to drop his ass in the dirt. No need to mess around and keep it close. What fun is that?
I agree with this... you know the vett returns with something else if the stang wins... might as well embarrass him at least once.

Ya, that is about what my buddy did to me. Thats Ok, its all fun. I am ordering something soon. Not sure what yet, I was interested in that hellion sleeper kit but saw it has the wategate dumped to atmosphere. I think it will sound like a ricer! Maybe a whipple if they have a 15% off sale on labor day? Or a beefcake special Vortech? So many choices!!!

Hard to beat the price of the Beefcake specials. $5900 for the 900hp kit. I recently purchased one of these. I threw in the sprocket and pump gear and it was still $6200 shipped.
